Saloon night time 1938 Robert Johnson is seated on a small stage, playing. His head is down, and a cigarette dangles from his mouth, the room is sparsely populated with people listening intently. One woman near the front stares at him, smiling as if the show is just for her, and occasionally he looks up and catches her eye, suddenly He hears the growling of a dog, outside. He pauses, then resumes again, he stops, hearing eerie barking that nobody else seems to notice, and seeing a dark shape flitting past the window. The cigarette falls from his mouth; he is terrified as he stands, clutching his guitar, and bolts from the room in terror and the woman and several others follow.

Robert stops, listening for the dog and he hears it, drops the guitar, and runs to a wooden house and bolts the door behind him and he hears the scrabbling and barking of the dog and draws a chair across the floor, wedging it under the door. He backs up slowly, then sinks to his knees, weeping as he does the door.

The door rattles violently until it flies open; two men and the woman from earlier enter to find Robert on the floor convulsing an old man asks "What is going on?" The woman says "Oh my God!" She goes over to Robert , runs her hands over him and she says "Get a doctor. Run!" The Old man run and the woman leans over Robert patting his face, and she asks Robert "What happened? Talk to me!" Robert simply says "Dogs..." The woman says to Robert Stay with us, baby!" Robert says "Dogs... Black dogs..." The woman says "Robert? Robert, don't you die on me!"

It was the present day, Sarah, Dean and Sam was sitting around a table at a cafe, Sam was on his laptop and Sarah who was sitting next to Dean and he was resting one of his hands on Sarah's leg and Sam is looking at a picture of Dean well a mugshot of him after his arrest from the St Louis Police Department and he speaks up saying, "Well so much for our low profile, you've got a warrant for your arrest in St Louis and now you're in the FBI's database." That causes Dean to have a grin on his face and he speaks up saying, "Guys I am like Dillinger or something." But of course neither of them was impressed, Sam was the first to speak up looking at his brother and says, "Dean seriously it's not funny, it actually makes our job a lot harder." Sarah looks over at Dean and she finally speaks up saying, "You know his right Dean, we have got to be more carefully otherwise, you could either go to jail or face the death penalty."

Dean looks over at Sam and asks him, "Well maybe with you two it isn't in the database yet, no necessary? Nothing?" Sam just looks over to his brother and says, "Shut up." Dean just stares at his brother and laughs saying, "Wait you're jealous?" Sam who's now looking at his laptop says, "No, I'm not Jealous." Dean then speaks up asking, "Uh-huh alright so what do you two have got on this case there you innocent harmless young man and woman, you?" Sam just closes his laptop and Sarah pulls out several papers of research and she speaks up saying, "Architect Sean Boyden plummeted to his death from the roof of his home, a condominium that he designed."

Dean looks from Sam to Sarah whilst she was talking and when she was finished says, "Hmm. Build a high-rise and jump off the top of it, well that's classy. So when did he call animal control?" This time it was Sam that speaks up and he says, "He called them two days earlier." Dean then asks another question and he asks, "Wait did he actually say Black dog?" Sarah was the one to speak up and she says, "Yeah a vicious, wild black dog but the authorities couldn't find it and no one else saw it. Well actually in fact the authorities are a little confused as to how a wild dog could get passed the doorman, take the elevator and start roaming the halls of the cushiest joint in town and after that no more calls, he doesn't show up for work for two days and he takes a swan dive."
