"Sweetie is everything okay?"
Mom asked as she turned off the stove and took a seat next to me with her tea in hand. She slid my cup over, smiling, encouraging me to take a drink.
"I'm fine," I replied, taking a small sip.
"Are you sure? You seem so..." She wrinkled her face a little, "so down. What's going on? Did something happen with Jacob?"
I managed to slightly laugh, shaking my head. "No mom everything's fine!" I reassured her.
She frowned, knowing I was lying but deciding not to push it.
I wish I could tell her. I wish I could tell her everything, it's so strange keeping all these secrets from her. She'd think I'd gone crazy if I told her all that's happened this past year. How do you tell your mom you're friends with a bunch of vampires and shape-shifters and not to mention you're in love with one and you're part vampire yourself? Who in their right mind says that? Oh that's right! A crazy person! I do however wonder if she knows about the legends, she spent a lot of her time in La Push and was best friends with Sue and all the other native kids. She must of heard something growing up, and her first love. He looked native as well, was he a shape-shifter?
As all these thoughts ran through my mind, I didn't notice that mom had said something.
"What?" I snapped out it.
"Alex is coming tomorrow so I need you to help me move some stuff in my office for him to stay in."
I groaned as loudly and annoyingly as possible, the last thing I needed right now was Alex.
"Why does he have to stay with us?" I whined, crossing my arms and leaning back in my chair. "Because he's my son and you're brother therefore he has the right to stay here," she laughed, getting back up.
"But he doesn't do anything and he's so gross! What is he going to do here anyway? He has no job and no friends, he'd just be home all the time annoying the both of us."
"Nova stop! He has no other place to go," she snapped at me.
The door bell rang before I could respond, I quickly got up already knowing it was Jake.
"Hey there!" I greeted, a smile on my face.
From the look on his face I could tell there was something wrong.
"What?"
I heard him swallow the lump in his throat, "they're coming."

"They don't want to fight that's for sure, they just want an explanation."
My eyes widened as the fear crept through my body, "you just need to tell them what happened to you. That vampires goal was to turn you into a full vampire and not part. He had no idea what he was doing and died before he even found out. You're innocent in all this, and you have no intentions of showing anybody what you really are."
I felt Jake tighten his grip on my waist, "what if they don't care?" I whispered, "what if they still want to get rid of me?" I felt tears burning my eyes but I refused to let them fall.
The room was silent, there was no need to answer a question they had no honest answer too. There was no way I was going to ask anybody to fight for me, not even Jake. What kind of person would I be to put them all in danger? And I had to make that clear, I wouldn't let anyone get hurt over this. Not any of the Cullens, the pack or Jake.
"They'll be here tomorrow so be ready," Alice reminded us.
I nodded, looking up at Jake, "can we talk first?"
