Jacob
I waited, and waited, and waited.
It felt like an eternity, and I was getting impatient.
Nova had been the bathroom for over half an hour, what was taking her so long?
I looked over at her mom, she sat at the kitchen table, starring out the window. It was awkward between us, she hadn't said a word to me the entire time I've been here. I can't really blame her though, she just found out I'm having sex with her daughter and she might be pregnant.
I felt my stomach flip at the thought of Nova being pregnant.
Another little person inside of her.
I closed my eyes, just imagining what it would be like.
Her stomach all enlarged and round. Then she would give birth and we'd have a small baby in our lives.
A small baby we created.
Who could possibly have her beautiful eyes, the eyes I would kill to see even if it's just for a few seconds.
Our baby would be beautiful just like her.
With her large hazel eyes, and rosy lips. The cutest baby on the reservation, and it'd be ours, our own creation.
I wonder if we'd have a boy or girl.
"She's been in there for a while," Nova's mom spoke up. "Why don't you check on her?"
I nodded, making my way over to the bathroom door, I could hear her breathing. The shuffling of something in her hands. "Can I come in?" I asked. I felt her sigh, "yeah come in."
I heard her unlock the door, I quickly twisted the doorknob and opened the door. Closing it behind me as I noticed her sitting on the edge of the tub. The pregnancy stick in her hands, I felt my heart pounding in my chest.
She softly looked up, her eyes glistened as she smiled.
"What does it say?"
She glanced down at it, reaching over to show me.
I noticed the small dark words flash across the screen.
Not Pregnant.
"I'm not pregnant Jake."
I felt a sigh of relief, taking a seat beside her. Wrapping my arms around her and pulling her onto my lap. She threw the test in the trash, "I'm so relieved." She breathed.
"Me too."
"Can you imagine us as parents? We wouldn't survive!" She softly giggled.
I don't agree with her, but I'm not going to say that out loud.
"I know right?"
I lied.
I think we would make great parents, not that I want to be a dad right now. I know Nova would be an amazing mom.
"I should probably tell my mom," she got up.
I sighed, standing up and following behind her.
_____
"I guess I was just sick."
She rolled over into my arms, resting her head on my chest. She traced shapes on my biceps with her fingertips, her lips brushing against my skin as she talked.
"I feel better now though, it was probably nothing."
I glanced down, wrapping my arm around her waist.
I love her.
So much.
"My mom is still freaked out by everything, she thinks we shouldn't spend so much time together."
She looked up at me, her eyes twinkling in the moonlight.
"But I think she's just being dramatic."
She looked away.
"I hope you realize that I can't live without you," I mentioned, sitting up, forcing her to sit up as well. She leaned into my chest, her body resting between my legs.
The stray strands of her hair tickled my chin, I reached down to press a kiss to the top of her head.
"Well now I know." She giggled, twisting her body so she could connect her lips to mine. The sweet taste of her lips stopped time. It was slow and passionate, like she's telling me how much she loves me. Her heart beat beautiful, her hands cupping my face, making me pull her in closer.
She slowly pulled away, her forehead touched mine as her eyes, vibrant as ever looked into mine.
"I love you."
The corners of her mouth lifted up into one of the most beautiful smiles I've ever seen on her face. It's brightness making fall harder and harder for her.
"Don't ever leave me." I begged her, never wanting this moment to end.
"I'll never leave you..."
Leaning down, she pressed her lips against my cheek.
"I promise."
_____
"Jake I have to go!" She grinned, slightly pushing me back.
I smiled, grabbing onto her waist and throwing her over my shoulder. I felt the laughter in her stomach, crying out for me to put her down.
"Nope."
"Jacob!"
"I don't think so!"
I laughed, jumping over the rocks until we made it to the other side of the beach. I quickly put her down.
"My mom is going to get mad." She whined.
"Just a few more minutes."
She rolled her eyes, "okay fine."
I sat down on a rock, looking out the ocean.
I felt her sit down next to me.
"Do you think we'll actually stay together? Will this whole imprint thing really work forever?" She questioned.
"I don't know, but if I know anything it's that I love you. And I always will, since the moment I saw you, Nova. I could never love someone like I love you, we're technically soul mates."
I looked over at her, she was smiling.
In this moment, as she looked out at the ocean with me. Her hair gracefully blowing back in the cold wind. Her lips compressed together, and her arms delicately folded in her lap.
I couldn't help but realize that I would do anything in this world to have Nova by my side.
I want to marry Nova. I want to have kids with her. I want to spend the rest of my life with her.
"Let's make a deal?"
She looked puzzled, "what is it?"
"You'll marry me if we make it far enough together."
Her eyes widened, her lips parting in surprise.
I shook my head, I must sound stupid. "Never mind, forget I said anything." I tried to laugh it off.
"No."
"What?"
"I know this might be really stupid of me, since I'm only 16 and all. But yes, I will marry you. In the future though, because I'm afraid some people won't agree to it if we tell them now."
A giggle escaped her lips.
I pulled her into a hug, planting kisses over every inch of her face I could possibly touch.
"Ew Jake! You're leaving spit everywhere!"
"Only because I love you."
