I sighed, opening the door to an empty house.

All the lights were off, mom was on another date with Mr. Perfect.

I got the overwhelming urge to walk to my mother's room and taking a seat on her bed. It feels like a century since I've been in here, it feels like a century since I've actually had a real conversation with her.

Mom now had something to keep her busy other than her books.

Which left me out of the picture.

I looked around, the cream colored walls comforting me. A small box in the corner of her closet caught my eye, I walked over. I know it's wrong of me to snoop, but I was curious.

I took it out, reaching inside.

I took out an envelope, I looked inside. Realizing it was photographs, all of them had the same little girl in them. A little girl who looks a lot like me at that age. It had to be mom, she looked so small and innocent.

In each picture she was either by herself smiling, or with other people.

I had no idea where these pictures were taken, until I saw something in the background that looked really familiar. The small gift shop at the beach, then everything started to come together. Why most of the pictures were taking with forest or the ocean in the background. They must be from when she spent her Summer's here with her grandpa.

I smiled, putting them back and taking out another set of photos.

In these ones she was older, probably my age.

I was shocked at our resemblance, she had the same exact eyes as me.

In these photos she was surrounded by what I assume to be her friends on the reservation. And there was one girl who looked a lot like Sue.

I smiled, it had to be her.

I scanned one photo, mom was sitting on the beach with a boy her age, a smile on both of their faces. I noticed his arm hanging over her shoulder, mom leaning into him.

He was good looking, with black hair and brown eyes.

I grabbed a different photo, again he was in this picture with her. Both of me standing next to each other, their arms wrapped around each other, it looked like mom was laughing.

It was almost the same in every photo, until I reached another one. This time, they were kissing.

Suddenly I heard a car coming down the road, I froze for a bit. Waiting to hear if it was pulling into the driveway, and it was. I quickly put everything back, not before taking a picture.

In seconds I was in my room, changing into my pajamas.

I heard the door open just as I crawled into bed, closing my eyes.

I could hear her come in, throwing her keys on the table and taking off her shoes. Hanging her coat and purse, then walking down the hall into her room.

I felt the picture under my pillow, wondering who in the world was in the picture with her.

_____

I woke up, in the worst of moods.

The events of last night rushing back to me, Jake and I had a fight.

I got out of bed, walking towards my bathroom and taking a shower. I leaned back against the wall, just letting the cool water run over my body. But it wasn't helping, so in the end I just got out and changed into a pair of jeans and a sweater. Thankfully, it was a weekend. So I didn't have to deal with school right now.

I let myself fall back onto my bed, just staring up at the wall.

I could feel tears start to stream down my face, and before I knew it I was sobbing.

I sat back up, wiping the tears away as I tried to control my breathing.

Why was I even acting like this?

I shouldn't be crying like this over something so stupid.

I could hear one of the pack members running through the forest, a part of me was hoping it was Jake. But when the doorbell rang and I heard Seth speaking it faded away. I could hear him ask for me, I quickly tried to make myself presentable.

Just in time to have mom knock on the door.

I opened it, "Seth's here." She said, I softly smiled. Walking towards the front door.

"Hey!" He greeted, I tried my best to actually smile. I motioned for him to come in, he did, taking a seat on our couch.

I could hear mom in her office, typing away at her laptop.

"So, I heard about you and Jake."

I rolled my eyes, letting my head fall on the couch.

"He's really sorry for what he said to you. Nova, it's killing him." He said, I sighed.

"I'm sorry too."

"Then talk to him about it."

He had a point, I should talk to him. But a part of me doesn't want to. This was our first time really apart and it was affecting us both negatively. I don't want it to be like that, I don't want to feel like I'm dying every time he's not with me. And I don't want him to feel like that, we should be able to spend time apart. We should be able to be happy, even if one of us is not there.

I think I do need to talk to Jake about this.

"Where is he now?" I questioned, getting up off the couch.

"At his house I think."

"I'm going to talk to him."

I quickly grabbed my shoes and told mom where I was going.

"I'll see you later," I said to Seth, taking off in the direction of Jake's house.

_____

I didn't bother knocking, he already heard me coming.

I walked to his room, opening the door and finding him sitting on the edge of his bed. A pained look on his beautiful face, I took a seat next to him.

Only our breathing filling the silence in the air.

"I'm sorry." I managed to speak up first, he turned to me.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have overreacted like that. I was just mad that he kissed you, I never meant to hurt you."

"I get it, you have every right to be mad at me. I'm an idiot and let all those things happen to me."

Silence.

I tried to find the courage inside to me to tell him what I really wanted to talk him about. I took a deep breath.

"I love you Jake," I turned to him, meeting his eyes.

"But, I think we should spend some time apart."

The look on his face said it all.
