Nova

I ran my fingers across the edge of the paper, turning the page to find out what happens next.

"Nova."

I let out a small yelp, looking up from my book. "What?" I asked my mother, "I'm going to the store, you want anything?" She asked, I shook my head. "No thanks." I smiled, "alright then baby, I'll be back in a bit." She said, turning around and walking out.

I put my book down, my mother had ruined the moment!

I got out of bed, walking out and into the living room, I sat down on the couch as I reached for the remote. I turned on the television, surfing for a good channel to stop on.

So far, nothing had caught my eye.

I groaned, turning it off and jumping off the couch. I paced back and forth, what to do?

My mind lingered to my phone that hanged on the wall in the kitchen. I debated with myself whether to call Seth or not. Mom had Sues' number on the refrigerator door. I furrowed my eyebrows, would I seem like a creep if I did call him?

It's not like I liked Seth right?

Or Jacob...

I let out a loud groan, there I go again! Jacob Black couldn't seem to get himself out of my head. There was something about him, I have no idea what it is, but there's something about him.

I sat back down on the couch, hugging a pillow to my chest.

Was it his eyes? That hypnotizing voice? Or his amazing toned body?

I mentally slapped myself, don't you dare think about that Nova! You are not one of those girls that falls to the feet of attractive males!

I shook my head, getting Jacob Black out of my head.

I walked towards the window, pushing the curtain aside. It looked like a warm summer day in August. I stepped back, walking down the hall and into my room, I grabbed my converse and put them on.

I looked in the mirror, I looked decent for a walk. Shorts and a t-shirt, besides it's not like I was trying to impress anyone.

I left a note for my mom telling her I was going out for a walk and I'd be back before it gets dark. I walked out, making sure I had my phone and house key. I locked the front door and  took off walking down the isolated road.

The warm sun helped me relax, I threw my head back. Breathing in the cool breeze of the ocean nearby. La Push was beautiful and so calm, I can't believe I didn't want to come here. The ocean was a major bonus, ever since I was little girl I remember begging mom to move by the beach. Once we moved to Florida when I was 14, I was ecstatic. Until I noticed no one wanted to be my friend.

I paid close attention to the chirping of birds that were coming from the woods, I looked towards them.

They looked serene.

I stopped, feeling a sense of attraction to them. I blinked as something blew past the trees. I took a step back, what was that?

I looked towards the direction it had went, there was nothing there.

I took a few steps forward, I stood a few feet from the entrance. I wonder what that was? It went by so fast, all I saw was a blur of dark color. I walked closer, now at the very edge, I rested my hand on a tree, I reached my head in, taking a look. Again, there was nothing but a sea of trees.

"You shouldn't be going in there."

I jumped back, my heart racing as I turned around.

It was Leah, Seths' sister, I put a hand over my heart. "You scared me." I said, walking closer to her. She stood with her arms crossed, "you could get lost you know. The forest isn't safe." She said, I couldn't help but notice that there was no emotion in her voice.
