I walked into school and went straight to gym class. I was a senior and I had study hall during first period which I was allowed to skip and always did. I joined my friends.

"Hey man, wanna throw the football around a bit?" Austin asked. Austin was my best friend and we were closer than I was with anyone. We had two other friends, Liam and Javon. All of my friends were idiots but they had my back and I had theirs.

" Sure" I replied. Javon handed me the football and I was about to throw it to Liam who was running farther to the back of the gym when Javon decided to raise the stakes. " how about you throw it with your eyes closed?" Javon asked while smirking.

I've done this before but I just got lucky I wasn't an NFL player or anything you know? I let my pride get the best of me and stupidly replied "Bet" That single word changed my life. Nah that's dramatic but it led me to a girl who changed my life.

I closed my eyes and threw the ball. I suddenly heard a couple of girls gasp and a few people asking if someone was okay. I opened my eyes and to my horror, I saw her on the floor.

She was about five foot two with black hair and green eyes. She was gorgeous but that was besides the point. I jogged over to her hoping she didn't get too hurt I apologized a couple of times while she yelled at me. The coach walked over and asked if she was okay. I learned two things during that encounter, her name was Dakota, and the coach was her dad. I was screwed.

A blonde girl a little taller than Dakota walked over and checked on her. I could tell she was the mom of the group because she quickly turned to reprimand me too. "You're so stupid! She could be hurt" She said, she was about to say something else but she realized I was taller than her and much more intimidating.

Javon walked over to us " Look, we're sorry but let's not let this take up our class time we've been over here for about fifteen minutes" I realized he was right and looked at Coach Addams. "Fine," Coach said. Everybody walked away from Dakota and me and we continued to go along with our class.

Later on after class

We'd gone on to lunch and our other classes but the entire time Dakota's pretty face was plastered in my mind. I couldn't date right now, I was at the lowest point of my life. My parents were one fight away from a divorce, I was failing my senior year, and my sister had just moved halfway across the world for college, leaving me to deal with this on my own.

She was the only thing that kept me from getting drunk and killing myself. Dark I know but true as can be.

I saw Dakota walking away with her friend. It wasn't the one she walked in with, that was Layla Miller, I recognized her because she was Javon's little sister. Layla was also the one who yelled at me.

It wasn't the ginger one either. It suddenly snapped into my mind that it was Ava Campbell, she was known for being a little over dramatic.

Dakota's entire friend group was made up of seniors meaning that she was a senior too, I think. I hadn't had any classes with her today other then gym but it was a new school year and I might have a class with her tomorrow. All of this thinking of her friends had gotten me off-subject,

I looked over to Dakota and Ava now walking through the parking lot to one of their cars. I smiled until I noticed. Dakota was crying I hoped it wasn't because of how stupid I was earlier.

Suddenly a guy I didn't know walked over to her. Where did he even come from? He yelled at her and I couldn't hear what they were saying. Ava jumped to defend her and Dakota just sobbed even more.

This was the guy she was crying over? Oh please, I was way better than this jerk. I walked over completely ready to start some drama with this guy. Bring it on jerk.
