Dying To See You

Jason's pov

I walk downstairs. Everyone else is still asleep thank goodness. I don't know what to do with Beth. I can't let her out. I open the trapdoor and walk down there, closing and locking it behind me. I put the key in my pocket. She wakes up and stares at me terrified. "y-you're c-crazy!" she cries. I don't even bother to listen. "OK girl, you cannot tell them that this is down here." I say. She just looks completely frightened. Good! I pull out handcuffs and handcuff her to a pipe sticking out of the wall. "you can't do this to me." she gasps, yanking on it. "well, I certainly can't let you go, now can I?" I gripe. I turn away from her and see the girls. They're just skeletons now, all of them.

Beth's pov

He's crazy! He falls to his knees and cries. "hey, my family is dead too but you don't see me hiding their bodies in my basement!" I yell. He turns around, his eyes glowing with the same rage filled insanity that Merle used to have. "you wouldn't understand, you're just a kid." He says. He stares back at the skeletons sitting against the wall. Bloody torn clothes. One of the kids is missing an arm. "what happened to them?" I ask. "what do ya think, ya moron! The frickin' zombies got the kids and poor Jess couldn't handle it! She blew her brains out!" He yelps. He sits on the floor beside the older one who I'm guessing is Jess. "if it wasn't for your friends, I'd be dead right along side them." He whispers, staring at his hands. "why?" I ask. "I was about to kill myself when I came across them in my barn." He says. "God dammit!" He yells, punching the ground. "as much as I love Miranda, I wish I had Jess back, just like I know she wishes she had Daryl." He starts crying again. I try to pull free again while he's distracted and the pipe is loose. "I just want the girls back." He whispers. There is something seriously wrong with him. He just sits there, his eyes closed. I get off the pipe as quickly and quietly as I can. I make a run for the door. He laughs. "you can't get out. It's locked and I have the key." He says. His face is hidden in shadow. I bang on the door, hoping someone will hear me. He stands up. "it's pointless. This room is completely soundproof. They can't hear you." He says. He twirls the key on his finger then I hear the click of a pistol. I turn around. "I suggest ya get away from the door." He says. I stay frozen. "NOW!!" He yells, his hands shaking. I back away slowly. "now sit down." I do what he says. He reholsters the weapon. I jump up and grab his neck with the chain, choking him. He reaches for the gun but my foot holds his hand back. I grab the bony foot of one of the kids and hit him in the head. He falls back, coughing. "Ya shouldn't have done that!" He growls, struggling to sit up. I shake the trapdoor. "HELP! SOMEBODY! PLEASE HELP!" I scream. He wipes the blood from his mouth then charges at me.

Miranda's pov

"MOM! "keely hollers. I walk downstairs. She stands in the middle of the living room, staring at the floor." what is it, sweetheart?" I ask. Then the floorboards jump a little. "what on earth?" I gasp, walking over faster. "go up to your room." I order. She nods and hugs me. I pry the loose floorboards and surprisingly it's a trapdoor.

Jason's pov

I grab Beth in a headlock as the trapdoor swings open. Fuck! My wife stands there. "Jason? Beth? What on earth is going on? What is this place?" she asks. "don't come down here." I say, throwing Beth to the side and standing in front of the kids and Jess. Beth of course opens her big mouth. "he's crazy! He has bodies down here!" she cries, standing up and running up the stairs. I'm doomed. Miranda walks down here and screams in shock, "what the hell?!" "I can explain." I say. She crosses her arms. "are you okay?" she asks. I'm surprised she didn't ask about the bodies. "y-yeah, I'm fine." I mumble. "you're bleeding." she says, walking over. "it's just a busted lip, baby, I'm fine." I say. She smiles. "good, let's get out of here then." she says. Why isn't she freaking out?! She walks to the stairs but I just stand there confused. Before I know it, she's closed the door and moved something heavy over it. "darn it!" I run to the door, trying with all my might to open it. "baby, open the door!" I call.

Miranda's pov

He's gone. The man I knew is gone. He's replaced with a psycho. No, the man I thought I knew was a psycho all this time because he did that before I knew him. I sit on the trapdoor crying my eyes out. Beth sets a hand on my shaking shoulder. "I'm so sorry, Beth are you okay." I ask. She nods and hugs me.

Jason's pov

I hear someone whisper my name. I turn around. It's Jessica! She's smiling. "hey, girl." I say, hugging her, tightly. Keely and kendyl stand behind her. "come with us daddy!" kendyl cries, pulling on my arm. I fall to my knees hugging them. "I want to but how?" I gasp. Jess pulls the girls back. "he'll be joining us shortly." she says, kissing me. How does she know? What's happening? Maybe I really am crazy! I feel a sharp pain in my leg. I turn around and a freaking copperhead snake has bitten me! "those are poisonous." I cry, yanking it off and falling back, my leg already burning. Jess and the girls sit beside me. "not too long now, honey." she says. I can feel the poison, coursing through my body, it burns. "are you saying I'm dying?" I ask. She nods and kendyl crawls into my lap. She has both her arms again. I smile and hug her again. "we have to go now but we'll see you soon. I promise." Jess says, standing up, "come on girls." they follow her. "no, please don't go!" I cry, reaching for them but they're gone in a matter of seconds. I lean my head back as I fight off a wave of nausea. My whole body is burning and my leg is swelled. The trapdoor opens. At least I get to say goodbye. Miranda, Beth, and keely run down. "Jason! What happened?" Miranda cries. "snake. Copperhead." I gasp, gritting my teeth in pain. "Beth, I'm sorry." I say. "There's no way out of this one darlin' we don't have any anti venom." she hugs me, crying. "no!" she wails. "baby, I'm okay. I'll be fine. I'll be happy." I whisper.

Miranda's pov

His eyes tear up. "I'm sorry." He mumbles. "it's okay, Jason, it's okay." I cry, holding his hand. He looks right at keely. "take care of your mom. She can't handle it." He whispers, smiling. "I love you dad." she whimpers hugging his neck. He closes his eyes but he's still breathing. "Jason ya still there?" I ask. He doesn't respond but squeezes my hand. I kiss his lips.

Jason's pov

I'm dying, there's no doubt about that. I open my eyes but all I see is Jess and the girls. I smile. "hey guys." I say. I can't move. Jess touches my arm and I can feel it again. I hug her. "won't be long now." she says.

Miranda's pov

His hand goes limp and his breathing becomes wheezy. "won't be long now." He whispers. "oh Jason don't leave me!" I cry hugging him tight. "I love you baby." He says. "I love you too." I say, unable to stop crying. He stops breathing. After all he's survived, and he dies because of a stupid snake.
