Jason's pov

We're trying to catch our breaths after running for several miles without stopping. I lean against a tree. "everyone okay?" Beth asks. There's a chorus of yeses from the group. "let's get back to town. Me and Abraham will lead troops to stop this governor guy." I grumble picking up the shotgun. Miranda stares at me but doesn't say anything. We get back to town and I have a meeting with the military force and Abe.

Miranda's pov

"why does it always have to be my guy? "I whimper, throwing darts at the wall. I feel like I can't do anything to stop it. He opened the door and has a big smile." what's up? " I ask. "we're going after the governor." my face fills with fear. "please tell me you aren't going." I cry beggingly. He hugs me. "no I don't have to go. They've got enough forces." he says. His words bring long held back tears to fall down my cheeks. "now we should start getting back home." He says. Yes! Going back to the south! He kisses me and we find keely. "where are we going?" she asks. "home." He says. Her eyes light up and she runs full speed to the car. "what are you slow pokes waiting for?!" she yelps. We both laugh. "looks like I'm not the only one who misses the south." He says. I grab the keys from his hand. "you're going to need your beauty sleep for when we get home so you sleep I drive." I say. He opens the door for me and we share a long deep passionate kiss. Keely pulls us from it by yelling, "let's go!" I laugh. "get in the car, Mr. President." I joke. He turns around to go to his side of the car and I slap his butt. He laughs and we begin the long drive back to Georgia, my favorite state in the world.

Jason's pov

She's not freaked out by what happened with Merle anymore. Keely is fast asleep in the back. She's been driving for nine hours but probably hasn't slept for twelve. "hey baby, ya wanna switch? You've been driving for a while." I say. "nah I'm fine. I just gotta get home." she says. She yawns, making me smile. "dear pull over." I order. She smiles at me and she's exhausted. We switch seats. I wonder if there's anything in here to listen to. I search the truck and find a Blake shelton cd. It's really old and I don't know if it will work. But it's been so long since I heard his voice. I put it in and it's a little scratchy but it works. The first song is footloose, his country version of it. She wakes up. "where'd ya get that?" she gasps, shocked. "found it." I say. The radio blasts, "I'm turnin' it loose!" and in that split second it felt like the world was the way it was before zombies, where people took drives just to listen to the radio and kids were muddy from soccer practice and not from living in the woods. Back when the world was new. We can make it that way again. We can and we will. I glance back at keely sleeping. My little girl is going to have a normal life.
