Chapter 40: Shizun, stop taking his side!

Just how did Shi Liang find out about Yun Lixin's true identity?  Xiu Qiangshu wondered.

Yun Lixin was about to step out into the empty field when General Miang stopped him.

She shook her head. "This might be a trap. Don't believe him."

Yun Lixin chuckled mockingly, "Inviting himself into the realm where I, the demon king, hold the most power, is the worst decision he could ever make."

General Miang hesitated before allowing Yun Lixin to go. Xiu Qiangshu followed him closely from behind, staying alert.

"I challenge the demon king to a duel. Just you and me." Shi Liang pointed, "The audience would be these disciples and your guards." He sounded strange, almost monotone.

Yun Lixin raised his eyebrows. "Do you know what you're saying right now? You do know that you have no chance of beating me, especially in my realm?"

Xiu Qiangshu found it strange as well. Shi Liang, the top disciple, the smartest of all, would make a silly mistake to step into the demon realm and challenge the demon king himself. Yun Lixin gains power from his realm, so his power was infinite until the demon realm's power was drained. So why was Shi Liang so confident? Did he already have a plan in mind which made him so fearless?

"If one of us dies, it's a win for the other. What do you say?" Shi Liang said, ignoring Yun Lixin's previous reply.

Shi Liang paused for a second before continuing. 

"If i win, You will surrender yourself, and let the sect leader take care of you."

"And if I win?" Yun Lixin tilted his head to the side. 

"If you win, then We'll not bother you ever again." Shi Liang said in a monotone, before he smirked. "But for that to happen, one of us has to die." 

Yun Lixin snickered, "We'll see who dies." 

"I object." Xiu Qiangshu frowned angrily and turned toward Shi Liang.

"Why do you want to end lives? This matter can be taken care of without any violence." Xiu Qiangshu replied.

Shi Liang took a few seconds to respond as if he were thinking about it.

"Stay away, Xiu Qiangshu. You knew Yun Lixin's real identity way back ago. Is that why you protected him?"

Xiu Qiangshu, Shuchang, and Qianfan's jaws dropped when they heard Shi Liang drop the honorifics for Xiu Qiangshu. It was very unlike Shi Liang to call anyone, especially Xiu Qiangshu by his name. Was Shi Liang mad at Xiu Qiangshu or something?

Yun Lixin's brows were knitted together angrily. No one could call Xiu Qiangshu by his name unless they were his parents or his lover. Not even Yun Lixin had called his shizun by his name so how dare he. call his shizun by his name? Unless...unless they were that close?

Yun Lixin gritted his teeth, fuming internally at the thought. 

Did his Shizun and Shi Liang had nothing going on between them while he was gone?! Was he lied to?!

No...he has to trust Shizun... Shizun's with him now, so it doesn't matter.

No one can take him away from him.

Yun Lixin and Shi Liang stood at the center. The disciples faced Shi Liang's back, while the guards faced Yun Lixin's back; however, Xiu Qiangshu stood at the center, a few meters away from Yun Lixin and Shi Liang. Not taking anyone's side.

There was silence as Yun Lixin's menacing eyes stared at Shi Liang, while Shi Liang glared at him. Shi Liang made the first move as he lunged toward him with his sword. Yun Lixin calmly dogged him. He made several blows against Yun Lixin, but Yun Lixin dodged his blows effortlessly. Shi Liang panted as he wiped the sweat off his face with his sleeve.
