Chapter 42: System Failure.

After discussing the event with Shi Liang, he apologized for his weird behavior, despite it not being his fault.

As Xiu Qiangshu fanned himself with his intricate fan, he was lost in thought.

Puppet master...from what he knows, the puppet master had only appeared once in the novel before he had disappeared. Unless...he appeared in the later chapters? However, this entire plot is already flawed because of him. So what's important is to find the puppet master.

There was a bad feeling in Xiu Qiangshu's stomach.

"Shizun, what are you thinking?" Yun Lixin asked.

"We need to find the puppet master." Xiu Qiangshu said.

Yun Lixin smiled, "I have already sent people to find clues on him."

Xiu Qiangshu nodded, getting up. "Good."

Suddenly, one of the guards hurried inside, handing Yun Lixin a letter, "Your majesty, we have received this letter. It seems to be by the puppet master."

Yun Lixin took the letter, examining the symbol. It was indeed by the puppet master.

Xiu Qiangshu looked over as Yun Lixin opened the letter.

"Xiu Qiangshu, Xiu Qiangshu, you really are amazing. As your beloved friend, let me give you a little advice. Those who try to interfere with destiny will be erased from the world. Stay within your limits, Xiu Qiangshu."

Yun Lixin blinked in confusion, "What language is this written in? I have never seen this before."

Xiu Qiangshu's face fell at the realization.

The letter was written in English.

English...that could only mean that the puppet master wasn't from this world, or novel. Did he also transmigrate like Xiu Qiangshu? Does he know that Xiu Qiangshu wasn't from this world, too...? Or did some people in the novel speak English, and he just didn't know that?

After Xiu Qiangshu translated the letter to Yun Lixin, he was truly amazed.

"Shizun, you truly are admirable..." He then stood up with a stiff smile, "Find the puppet master immediately." He demanded of the guard, who nodded and quickly walked out.

Yun Lixin scowled slightly. How dare some mere puppet master threaten his shizun?

A few days later, Yun Lixin and Xiu Qiangshu arrived at a small town called the dead town, as named by the villagers, which was infested with puppets. Xiu Qiangshu let out a sigh as they killed the last of the puppets in the town, which was covered in the bodies of puppets. The small town was located in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by huge trees. They hadn't known of this town until one of the survivors...well, now a dead puppet had sent them a letter seeking help.

Yun Lixin paused, his eyes brightening red before going back to normal.

"Shizun, I feel some energy." He grabbed Xiu Qiangshu's wrist, dragging him further into the woods. Qianfan and Shuchang glanced at each other worriedly before following after them.

The forest was misty, but as they walked further in, the mist cleared. Xiu Qiangshu stared at the scene across him, stunned.

There was a single tree at the center with long grass and tulip flowers of various colors that reached up to their knees. But what caught Xiu Qiangshu's attention was the fireflies that lit up the trees, making it seem like the tree was glowing. The stars sparkled in the sky brightly.

Yun Lixin himself was amazed, but when he saw Xiu Qiangshu's eyes reflecting the fireflies, making his eyes sparkle, he couldn't help but remember that day when they stood under the cherry blossom tree as they watched the fireworks. Now, Xiu Qiangshu was with him, loved him back. Yun Lixin couldn't be happier.

Xiu Qiangshu yelped as he was pushed against the tree, making few of the fireflies fly away. Before he could even process what was happening, he felt soft lips against his own, a tongue trying to invade his mouth.

Xiu Qiangshu's heart rate quickened.

Yun Lixin seemed very impatient. He pushed his knee between Xiu Qiangshu's thighs making him gasp. Xiu Qiangshu felt the other attack his mouth, eagerly rubbing his tongue against Xiu Qiangshu's. 

Once Yun Lixin was satisfied, he pulled away, leaving the other person breathless with their lips swollen.

"Shizun...?" Shuchang cried slightly.

Qianfan and Shuchang seemed to be lost in the forest due to the mist, not realizing they were very close to where their shizun was.

"Qianfan, shuchang." Xiu Qiangshu appeared beside them, making them scream and run away in the opposite direction.

He sighed in disbelief, "Idiot disciples...." he said softly.

Yun Lixin chuckled as he walked closely behind Xiu Qiangshu. "Shizun, I love you."

Xiu Qiangshu who was walking ahead, weaving his way through the huge forest was flustered at the sudden confession.

"I-I love you too."

"I love you very much." Yun Lixin said softly.

Xiu Qiangshu was embarrassed. He can't keep saying I love you too 100 times, okay!

"I love you more than anyone." Yun Lixin said again.

This isn't a competition, young man!

Xiu Qiangshu glanced back, "What's up with you now?" He asked instead.

"Shizun...how about you marry me?"

At the sudden suggestion, Xiu Qiangshu stumbled a little.

Something told Xiu Qiangshu that this wasn't a suggestion...

"That's...complicated, Yun Lixin. We have more important things to deal with first."

Yun Lixin pouted, "But shizun..."

Xiu Qiangshu sighed, "...Alright. I'll marry you. We'll plan the details later."

Yun Lixin's face brightened up.

If Xiu Qiangshu marries him...he'll be bonded for a lifetime with him.

He'll possess him completely.

Nobody will dare take him away from him ever again...

Xiu Qiangshu will just be his...

Yun Lixin snapped out of his thoughts when Xiu Qiangshu stopped dead in his tracks, looking down at something, though Yun Lixin couldn't see what.

"Shizun...what's wrong? Why is your face pale?" He asked worriedly.

Xiu Qiangshu was doing just fine until the system appeared with a sudden mission. Before he could read the mission, it glitched and changed into something else. Xiu Qiangshu wanted to check it later, but the system forced him to choose an option.

[System: The plot has been shifted. Your next mission is to get Yun Lixin married to Princess Anasthasia from the Skyheaven Empire.

Years ago, a person was in their darkest moments. Their only escape was daydreaming while listening to music. They had a lot of ideas, but not enough time to write them. So they made up characters and the entire plot in their head. The characters being their only escape from the harsh reality that they faced. It was hard to realize that life wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. But once they finally wrote the stories, their heart calmed down, but their life didn't.
