Aru sat in the library and immediately put in her earbuds. It wasn't like her to be early, but then again, if she flunked the social studies test again, her mother and teacher would probably kill her. She looked at the time on her phone.

4:36

Great. She had a little more than twenty minutes until Mini, her best friend, would come to tutor her. Humming along to the music, she looked around at the books in the library. At first, Aru wanted to find something social studies related, but realized that she may as well spend these few minutes to herself. She wandered over to the Marvel section, looking through all the books and comics. When nothing caught her eye, she just wandered aimlessly around the place, until she found a whole shelf of cookbooks.

Mm, food, Aru thought, licking her lips.

She reached up to grab a cookbook with a cover decorated in a variety of delicacies, but someone beat her to it. Somewhat annoyed, Aru turned to her side, revealing a very tall girl wearing blue clothes and golden bracelets that matched her highlighted hair. The girl looked down at her and blinked, as if she was just realizing that Aru had also reached for the book.

"Uhm, hi?" Aru said awkwardly.

"Did you want this?" The girl waved the book in front of Aru.

"Nah, it's fine. I was just looking for something to pass the time until my friend came."

The other girl just nodded.

"So... You cook?" Aru made an attempt to start a conversation. The other girl's eyes lit up.

"I love cooking! And, not to brag, but I'm amazing at it. You should try my world-famous lasagna!"

As if on cue, Aru's stomach grumbled, and the girl snorted.

"Yeah, well, I guess that would be nice right about now," Aru muttered as she dug some Swedish Fish out of her bag. The girl smiled.

"I'm Brynne."

The girl stuck out her hand, and Aru shook it.

"I'm Shah, Aru Shah," she said with a smirk, receiving another snort from Brynne.

"Well, Shah, here's my number, if you're so interested in trying my food."

Brynne quickly wrote down her number on a piece of paper and shoved it into Aru's hands.

"I gotta go. Later, Shah."

Aru waved bye as she watched Brynne leave the library. She looked down at the paper given to her, excited to try out this lasagna, when she realized that she couldn't tell the difference between Brynne's zeroes and sixes. And unfortunately, Brynne's number had a lot of zeroes and sixes.

Oh, screw it, Aru thought as she randomly pressed sixes and zeroes into her phone. She texted the number, unsure whether or not it was Brynne's.

Aru: hello?

She waited for a response, and shockingly, it was immediate.

Unknown: Who are you?

Aru grinned as she typed her next message.

Aru: well, i can ask u the same thing

Unknown: ...You're literally the one who texted me first.

Aru: whatever

Aru: r u brynne?

Unknown: Uh, no.

Aru: well, thats just amazing. goodbye.

Unknown: Wait, who even are you?

Aru: y do u want to know?

Unknown: Because Brynne is my friend. I mean, if we're talking about the same Brynne, of course.

Aru: well, then, which brynne r u talking abt?

Unknown: Brynne Tvarika Lakshmi Balamuralikrishna Rao

Aru: ....wut

Just then, Aru realized that she actually didn't know anything about Brynne. All she knew was that Brynne liked to cook and apparently made good lasagna.

Aru: im talking abt the brynne who likes to cook and makes good lasagna

Unknown: Yeah, that's definitely her then. How do you even know Brynne? Is she a friend?

Aru: i met her today. how do u know her?

Unknown: We're childhood friends. What's your name? I want to confirm with Brynne before actually giving her number to some stranger.

Aru: im not a stranger, u r! i dont know ur name either!

Aru paused for a moment, before finally typing again.

Aru: my name is aru shah, btw

Unknown: Mhm, let me text her.

A couple minutes later, the person was online again.

Unknown: Yep, she knows you.

Aru: ha, told ya!

Unknown: Lol, here's her number: XXX-XXX-XXXX

Aru: ty. wait, what's ur name?

Unknown: My name is Aiden Acharya.

Aru froze.

Aiden Acharya.

As in the one who she word-vomited on once?

Nope, nope, nope.

She was so screwed.

A/N

Should I continue this? I actually kind of like it.
