Angst, but not angst. Idk, man.

He was perfect in every way. His straight, black hair; his brown eyes that seemed to glow; those soft lips that quirked up in a smile every time he saw Aru.

So naturally, Aru Shah had fallen for him.

And this time, she'd fallen hard.

Real hard.

Aru waved at Anand as he walked by, his school bag slung over one shoulder. Anand smiled and waved back, before turning again to talk to one of his friends. A blush crept up Aru's cheeks.

"So, you and Anand, huh?"

Aru swirled around and rolled her eyes as soon as she saw Aiden.

"Psh. No way. Never," Aru lied. But he was right about one thing: She had a crush on Anand. But him liking her back? No way.

"You're blushing," Aiden pointed out casually as he took a sip of water from his bottle.

"Am not!"

"Are too!"

"Am not!"

"R2!"

"D2! Ugh, snob-"

"Troll."

"Operation Ananru," Brynne smirked. Aru blinked.

"Operation A-naan-what?"

"Oh! Naan! I love naan!" Rudy piped up. Brynne's face seemed to glow.

"Yes, naan and my world-famous mutter paneer-"

"That's besides the point," Aiden erupted, "What we're here to talk about is Ananru." He looked at Aru and smirked. Aru shrunk under his gaze.

"No way. I have no clue what you are talking about."

Next to her, Mini giggled. Aru swatted at her and crossed her arms with a scowl.

Sometimes, she just wished her friends could get lost.

Scratch that.

She loved her friends.

Sure, they shipped Aru and Anand a lot, but they did help to make up for it.

"What type of girls does he like?" Brynne asked, chewing on her pencil thoughtfully. Aru just shrugged.

"He doesn't ogle at girls all day, so it's not really like I would know," Aru muttered. She turned her head to the side, and saw Aiden staring at her.

"Something on my face, Wifey?" She teased. Aiden blinked.

"No. It's nothing," He said quickly. A little too quickly.

"Alright, class, today we will be starting a project. I will be announcing the groups," Mrs. Gaiety spoke, her voice as monotone as ever.

Aru insistently tapped her foot against the ground, staring at the clock. Social studies was the worst. Normally, Aru enjoyed history. But Mrs. Gaiety made everything boring.

"Mhm. Our first group will be Poppy, Burton, and Arielle..." Mrs. Gaiety spoke slowly, annoying Aru. Poppy and Arielle squealed together, Burton audibly groaning.

"Secondly, Aiden, Anand, and Aru..."

Aru's heart skipped a beat.

Anand and Aru.
