I woke up and looked at the clock. It was five and I was dreading work. I got ready and left my room, but took a double take noticing that Evelien wasn't there. I ran to the living room to see her sitting there with Marius and Lestat.

"Oh Jesus Evelien, you scared the Hell out of me. I thought you had been taken by a Vampire. Well, off I go."

"Where are you going," Evelien asked and stood up.

"To... work, I start my shift at six and it takes half an hour to get there so I go at five. OH, and Evelien if my sister comes over today, try not to kill her, she already doesn't like you, she doesn't have a problem with arresting you."

"Fine, I'll try for you," she said and hugged me. I closed the door behind me and I hopped in the car and sped off to work. The whole way there though my heart was pounding because I was so scared to leave Evelien there with them, she didn't know how to fight like I did. But I also knew them so I had a good feeling Evelien would be fine- it was fifty-fifty. When I finally got to my office, I put my stuff down and went to Damien's office, but he wasn't there again. He was always the one who opened the building in the first place, but I thought nothing of it since he got sick every other month. I went back to my desk and began to work and worked... and worked and no Damien.

"Hey, have you seen Damien yet today," I asked a friend of Charlotte. She looked at me with confusion and it made the situation very... strange.

"He took Charlotte's death pretty hard so maybe he just stayed home today to grieve. Him and Charlotte were like... best friends. I thought you knew this."

"UM, he HATED Charlotte so I am very confused right now, he didn't like Charlotte whatsoever. He practically wanted her dead, and didn't want me to be friends with her. Something is so off with him. I am going to try to call him." I tried three times but none were answered and she too was confused. We both got different sides of the story and I was going to figure it out, but I had work to do so I would ask Evelien about it later. I looked at the friend and thanked her as she walked off. She smiled and waved. I tried so hard to stay focused on my work, but Damien was never truly like this. I got home around ten-thirty and tried to call Damien and he actually picked up this time.

"Hey what's up with you, you have been-"

"Sorry I have a bad cold right now I will call you back later." He hung up and I suddenly felt a very bad feeling or maybe it was just the two Vampires who walked in through my door. Evelien came up to me and scared me, even without trying. Ever since my days with Vampires I had been the most jumpy person ever and people didn't even try to scare me, it was just paranoia I guess.

"Hey what's up, you look down?"

"I... you are my best friend and would listen to everything I say right?"

"Emma, what is wrong, you can tell or ask me anything you know this." I sighed and tried to think of how to word this the best way I could.

"Okay here it goes. Do you think Damien would cheat, I don't think he would but I was talking to Charlotte's best friend and she said Damien was grieving over her-" Everything in my head just shifted. Damien said that she was alive and was sent to the Hospital, but Andrea, Charlotte's friend, said that she died. Why wasn't I informed about this? I looked at Lestat who looked at me.

"What in the Hell did-"

"I was saving your ass." I backed up into the counter, staring at him. Grabbing my jacket I ran through the street and down to the Hospital, well tried before my sister blew her sirens at me.

"Where are you going? I came over here earlier but you weren't home, Mom said you were at work. Get in before I make you." She put me into the back of the cop car and drove me home. I was so angry. Good thing Lestat and Marius left when they did.
