     Present Day, Narnia

THE DARK TIDE VERZIMIR plunged through the night and unleashed his scorching fires on the sea below, razing the sirens who screeched from the heat of the flames as they sunk into the deep, dead. The Narnians had only stared up aw him in awe, as the dragon finished the sirens off, the sound of his wings echoing like a harsh gale. Verzimir roared, resulting in the frozen crew of the Treader to move and rush to aim their arrows up at him.

Jamie saw this, and quickly rushed to stop them, ignoring Edmund's calls for her not to move too much. "Stop! Don't shoot him!" She shouted, halting the movement of the crew. By that time, Caspian and the others had reached the ship and were now on the deck, weapons still drawn as the dragon flapped its wings and shrieked at them. "He won't hurt us if you don't shoot!"

"Jamie!" Edmund hurried to her side. "That is a dragon, for crying out loud! It might attack us!"

"No!" Jamie angrily cut him off, facing them with her back turned against the railing, where the Dark Tide flew close by. "No one dare shoot, or you will face my wrath." Her stance was at a defensive, sword on the ready. This made the crew lower their weapons, confusion mixed with fear etched on everyone's faces. "He is my friend."

"Your majesty, with all due respect, dragons are wild creatures and certainly no friend to mankind." Captain Drinian warned. "And Narnia hasn't had any dragons skirt its skies for centuries."

"You're wrong." Jamie countered, raising her hand that grasped the Lilitheian Pendant, as its stone glowed a bright purple, so did the dragon's irises. "I know Verzimir is my friend, because it was I who had called him." She looked each and every one of them in the eye, her voice grim when she said. "And he has returned home to me."

"Explain from the beginning, I fear we have too many secrets between us." Caspian had called a meeting in the map room when they were fit to sail once more. Edmund, Captain Drinian, and a curious Lucy gathered in the room, awaiting Jamie's explanation for the dragon, as well as the pendant.

Jamie drew a breath, eyes flitting between them. "When the Pevensies arrived in a winter-fallen Narnia, they were each given gifts of their own. Susan's horn, the juice of the fire flower, to name a few. Like them, I too had inherited my own item. It is called the Lilitheian Pendant. But unlike them, I had to go through various lengths to have it." She began, hydrating her lips with her tongue. "While it provides power to who wears it, it can also be used to call upon . . . well . . . dragons. It is something I learned later on. When I had not yet known of its full potential, I often toyed with it, and accidentally awakened a great dragon in the western mountains — that dragon I named Verzimir, the Dark Tide, from an old eastern language. Soon, I found myself bonded with him. Though, I hadn't expected he would live this long for me to reunite with him."
