     2827 BGA, Dark Ages

FOLLOWING THE TRADITIONAL customs of Cerephon, Icaraeus Nasryth was burned on a pyre, his body flowing down a river that would lead him to the sea. The soldiers received the same burial, while Tiron's remains were disposed of by order of his son Klyden, who was now crowned King of Cerephon. Jamie and the rest of her royal council attended the ceremonies, donning simple black clothing to pay their respects.

"I want to thank you, for your help." Klyden approached them, his eyes raw with tears, but he still put on a small smile nonetheless. "Our kingdoms will never be at war again, for as long as I live."

Jamie offered him back a smile. "I only knew your brother for a short time, but I have no doubt he would've made a fine king."

Klyden chuckled. "He would've. I wasn't raised to be king. I know nothing about ruling."

"Tell you what, I wasn't raised to rule either, and when I came here I knew nothing about how to be a queen." Jamie supplied, as a way to provide comfort. "I think you'll do just fine in being King, Klyden Nasryth." The elf only smiled sadly in return, and a short silence settled between them once more, as they looked out onto the river, where Icaraeus' pyre burned into the night. "Why did your father want to take revenge for Syllena?"

"To tell you honestly, your grace, my brother and I never knew. He never told us." He stood straighter now, jaw clenched. He looked every bit the king.

"Do you have any suspicions as to the reason?" Jamie pressed on.

Klyden faltered, his eyebrows knit. "I don't know. He was always . . . very distant. Made sure to be unpredictable. But by doing so, I guess he made himself more predictable than he thought out to be." He said darkly. "Excuse me, your grace. I must attend to the families." He'd then excused himself, with Jamie nodding for him to go as she processed the information. Biting her lip, her gaze collided with Zhev's, an unspoken exchange passing between them.

"Hey." He handed her a cup of sweetwine. "What did the two of you talk about?"

"His brother and father." Jamie replied, taking a sip from her cup. "He told me Tiron never revealed his true reason for being motivated to avenge Syllena."

Zhev regarded her with a deep honey gaze. "Think he's lying?"

"I'm not sure." Jamie's eyebrows knit together. "What's important is the war is over. There is peace in Narnia once more." She had only hoped those words to have a truth to them. The last thing they needed was another war.
