Alex's POV:

As we landed, our guards along with the cars were waiting for us. They greeted us and proceeded to move further. I thought it'd be a good idea if I just check on my office once and then go to my apartment to relax after the long flight. So, I sat in my car and ordered my driver, Kevin to take me to my building. Meanwhile, my annoying brother finally parted ways with me to "take care of some things". I have to figure them out as well as I really don't want any more headache in my life. As we were on our way, there was a lot of traffic on the road. It seems like there have been an accident just an hour ago. Some car sped over a passerby. Ugh why does it seem like the universe is against me and I cannot do a single thing I have planned to do without any hurdle. Finally, the vehicles started moving and we reached my building. Aha the peace I am gonna have there. As I stepped outside the car, there were a number of people surrounding the entrance. I thought they must be the paparazzi but since I was in no mood to deal with them, I asked my guards to clear my way. They quickly heed my orders and the people stepped away. I came out of my car as Kevin opened the door for me.

My mouth fell open as I was shocked to see the sight in front of me. There was a woman lying on the basement with blood pooling all around her seeping out from her head. It seems she had committed suicide here and these idiots were recording the scene instead of calling the ambulance. I was furious, to say the least. I yelled for the guards and asked them that why isn't the ambulance here yet. They said this just happened a few minutes ago and they have called it. I looked at the sight in front of me and could not help but feel sickened. I was angry. I started yelling at the people around me and ask them to go away if they can't bother to help. People slowly started scattering while some college girls just stood there making puppy eyes, begging for attention. Being me, I might have given them just that but right now I was beyond annoyed and glared at them. They gasped and quickly sprinted away. I rolled my eyes.

I sighed and looked at the woman in front of me again. With blood coating her whole body, she was sprawled on the ground, hair all over her face and eyes closed. I felt pain for her but especially agony for her loved ones. The people she left behind. But suddenly, I was reminded of the letter I was given a long time ago. 9 years precisely. I couldn't shake the feeling of nausea and resentment. The ambulance arrived and I decided to accompany her to the hospital and figure out what to do. Since the incident happened on my premises, I felt responsible, and I am pretty sure there are gonna be some legal procedures to follow through now. The nurses came out with a gurney to take the woman away. They checked her pulses and yelled, "She is still alive." They told me, "There is a faint heartbeat but if we do not take her to the hospital soon, she might just be as good as dead only." I entered the ambulance with her and asked them to hurry. My own heartbeat was racing, and I couldn't help but feel like this time I won't let someone die. They will save her. They have to save her. We reached the hospital soon and she was taken to ICU immediately.

The red light was blinking outside the door indicating that the operation is still going on. It was torture. I just wanted to break down the doors and know if she is safe, if she will be alright, if she isn't another victim of suicide. Meanwhile, the DNA tests were being run to figure out who she is and contact her kin or next to kin. The doctor came to me and told me, "Allysa Carson, age: 24-year-old and there are no contact numbers of any immediate family she might or might not have. But they have informed a Miss Isabel Young who was listed as her emergency contact." I was relieved to hear that. I was worried that she might not have anyone. But then the doctor proceeded to say, "Although we could not reach her. We don't know where she is or if she is gonna call back. So, until then either you have to take care of her, or she is on her own to be discharged or take any decision regarding further treatment. Plus, the medical bill is yet to be paid." At that, I glared at him, and he cowered away. I decided that now I will take the matters in my own hands. Also, I did not want any bad publicity of my company as the stocks were already dropping. Firstly, I went ahead and completely paid her bills off. Then I tried Isabel but couldn't reach her so decided to do that later on. I called my PR to take care of the other things and let people know she is under medical procedure and not related to our company in any way. Then I took a deep breath as I saw my brother coming down the hall. Not again, I am already very tensed, and I swear I'll kill him if he pisses me off even a little bit. The doctor came out of the OR and gave me a small smile. He said, "There is both good news and bad news. We managed to somehow save her, and she is still alive. Although, she has 3 broken ribs, broken legs which is why she will have to use a wheelchair for some time, head trauma and most importantly brain injury. The brain injury isn't too deep, so she won't be at risk for tumor but there can be some repercussions for it which are yet to be known. They can be anything like memory loss, nightmares, hallucinations etc." I took a deep breath and punched the nearest wall until my knuckles were all bloody. I was frustrated now. Beyond my limiting point.

For the first time, I saw my brother was also very serious and without any of his bullshit. He calmed me down and gave me some water. Of course, we couldn't let the girl be alone while she has no one that we know of to take care of her. So, after a while, we decided that we will wait for her to wake up and take a decision accordingly.

So, we waited and waited for hours. There was no response. The doctors said she might probably slip into coma if she doesn't wake up soon. I was holding my head in my hands begging to God to give us some good news. I went home for the night and placed my guards at her door to let me know as soon as any news is there. The next morning, I returned with a coffee in my hands and sat down again outside her room to wait for her. Suddenly, a nurse came rushing out of her room, slamming the door against the wall, calling for the doctor, yelling, "She is awake! Doctor! She is awake!"

I rushed inside the room to see her for the first time and God was I surprised to see the sight in front of me. She looks like a princess in disguise. Broken and yet regal. I just kept staring at her while she stared back, probably wondering what happened and who am I.

Soon princess...
