(Y/n) Pov

Another day of school, another long hour of a random ass test for no damn good reason.

"Mr. Sunn, can I borrow Pope for a second? I'm from the Vanderhorst foundation.", the man at the door announced.

"Mr. Heyward? It's for you.", Mr. Sunn dismissed him.

That's weird.

"Hey, J, do you know what that's about?", I whispered to JJ.

"Hm? Nah. It's kinda weird.", JJ muttered back.

Pope came back in a rush, sitting in his seat and turned to us with his envelope in hand, the wheat symbol stamp seal looking at us.

"That's hella trippy.", I chuckled.

"What the f-fu...", JJ paused as the teacher looked at him.

"Fu...fumble.", I finished for him.

With a serious look in his eyes, the teacher looked away from us.

I wonder how John B and Sarah are doing? They could be doing good but knowing my brother, he brings trouble everywhere.

The bell rang, drawing me out of my thoughts. We handed our tests in and walked to the library.

"Is this a game of tag? What's going on, babe?", JJ asked me.

"JJ, if I had an answer to your questions, believe me, I'd answer them. The truth is, I dunno.", I deadpanned.

"Seriously, Pope, I'm gonna beat you with your own protractor if I don't get an explanation soon, man.", he threatened his best friend.

"Okay, look, that guy that came in? He was from the scholarship committee. Take a look at this. Read it.", Pope rambled as JJ snatched the paper from him, placing it firmly on the desk.

"Out loud.", Kie continued.

"Guys, I can't read cursive.", JJ whispered.

"I got this.", I said as I cleared my throat, "'Dear Mr. Heyward, I am reaching out because I have material evidence that can exonerate John B. Routledge. It is of vital importance that you come and meet with me in person at my offices at 27 King Street, Charleston ad 8:00 p.m. sharp tonight. Please come alone. Regards, C. Limbrey.'", I finished reading.

"Charleston?", my boyfriend asked in shock.

"That's an eight-hour drive plus the ferry. How the hell will we get there tonight?", Pope asked curiously.

"We'd literally have to leave at this fucking second.", I muttered.

"I've got a free period.", Kie announced.

"Material evidence'? What the hell does that even mean, 'material evidence'?", JJ continued.

"Solid evidence. JJ, that means he can clear my brother.", I chuckled as I held his hand.

"Oh, shit, then it's obvious that we're going to Charleston.", JJ blurted out.

"I gotta tell my mom. Listen, if we get it this time, we are not giving it to Shoupe.", Kie stated sternly.
