(Y/n) pov

"You can have my room, Sarah. I'll start a warm bath for you. If you need anything, I'll be in the living room or just yell.", I stated plainly as I walked to the living room.

My phone buzzed in my back pocket. Pulling it out, I saw that it was a text from Topper.

Topper: hey, you still awake?

(Y/n): yeah, why wouldn't I be?

Topper: well, you used to go to sleep early.

(Y/n): that's because if I didn't go to sleep early, your dad would beat me til I fell asleep. What's up?

Topper: what happened earlier? Between you and Rafe? I've never seen you get that violent.

(Y/n): he was hurting Sarah, Topper. I did what I had to.

Topper: how is Sarah?

(Y/n): she's...doing better now. She's in the bath right now. I have to go, though. I'm busy tomorrow.

Topper: can I take you to get breakfast? I feel like there's more you wanna say.

(Y/n): sure.

I feel like this is a bad idea. Then again, it's Topper. Yet again, he did beat the shit out of John B. Yawning, I laid down on the couch and slept when Sarah stepped out of the bath.

Waking up at 5am, I got dressed and slipped out of the cottage. Topper said he was going to pick me up at the hotel on Figure Eight so, I waited there. Seeing his white jeep pull up next to me, I opened the passenger side and sat down on the seat.

"So, um, how are you?", he asked awkwardly.

"I'm doing pretty good. How about you?", I replied.

"I've been okay for the most part. Mom's been asking about you.", he answered.

"She knows she can text me, right?", I asked sarcastically.

"She feels ashamed, you know, since you've been basically exiled from Figure Eight.", he deadpanned.

"Oh. Where are we going to eat at, anyways? I didn't think there were any places open at 5:30am.", I asked curiously.

"You know that place where mom used to take us as kids? They extended their hours. They're open 24 hours now.", he explained bluntly.

"Oh really?! That's awesome!", I cheered.

He smiled lightly at me as he continued driving to our destination. It took us about 15 minutes but we got there.

Finding a parking spot, he parked his car and we walked inside the building.

"Hi, for how many?", the host asked softly.

"For two, please.", I answered.

"Okay, right this way.", they said as they lead us to a booth, "here you go.", they finished as they placed down the menus and left.
