•Y/n pov•

This GROFF guy? Yeah, it's safe to say that I don't like him, like, at all. The atmosphere of the house seemed ominous as we stepped in. I felt it and by the looks of it, so did Cleo. We went into the next room and a putrid smell went into my nose. Fuck, a little febreeze could make this place smell better!

"I wouldn't be surprised if we died here. Like shot point blank in the head. Just a little bang pow! Done, goners.", I whispered into JJ's ear.

"(Y/n), calm down. Yeah this place is creepy but they're gonna help us find the treasure, babe.", he assured me.

Creepy Groff stepped aside and let us enter the main room. This whole place needs a glow up like, yesterday. It's ugly as hell. The only nice thing in here is the painting of the lady above the fireplace. Must be Larissa Genrette. She was so beautiful and, she looks like JJ a bit. He looks like her, actually, a lot like her.

We sat down as the older man, Wes Genrette, introduced himself to us once again. He was giving us a brief lecture about his ancestor who killed Blackbeard, straight up decapitated the guy and killed his wife shortly after. According to him, the wife of Blackbeard's ghost, who we learned was named Elizabeth, haunted generations of Genrettes. They all died in violent ways, including Wes' daughter, Larissa, who was married to Chandler.

This guy can't be serious. Ghosts? Seeing a ghost is one thing but, seeing one a week before your death is another thing entirely. Not only is it creepy but it also sounds like a fairy tale.

"We're sorry that you're seeing ghosts, it must be awful, but...what exactly do you want from us? I'm assuming it isn't to give us a lecture on your family tree or your ancestors. Though, it's interesting, we'd really like to hear your reasoning for bringing us here.", I explained bluntly.

"Yes, of course, young lady. Uh, Chandler, if you may.", the older man stated, letting Chandler speak.

"(Y/n), you good? You seem kinda off.", my brother asked curiously.

"Yeah, I'm good. I just don't trust this guy. Something is off about this whole thing, especially Chandler.", I whispered into his ear.

"It might be just you, then.", my brother deadpanned as he turned his attention back to Chandler.

Chandler was rambling about some curse and crown. How a curse was placed on this family which sounds like utter bullshit. Death comes to those whenever it wants. Nobody is ever cursed. His whole description of everything raised questions from everyone. But for me? It just raised a bunch of red flags. I wanted to leave but they showed us a diary, similar to Denmark Tanny's. They offered to pay us in which JJ was more than welcome to accept but we, as a group, were reluctant.

"Visitations? Curses? This is a load of bullshit!", John B exclaimed.

"See?! I'm not the only one that doesn't agree with this! It's a whole lot of crazy coming out of that old guy!", I added to my brother's statement.

"Well, obviously, he's cuckoo in the head, but he's crying in there about his daughter! He obviously needs help.", Sarah stated sympathetically.

"He does not need some necklace, he needs some grief therapy. That is not hard to find and it doesn't waste our time.", Kie argued.
