When they got there, the two raced over to the back of the school building, where Metro Man's secret lair was hidden and stumbled across the gray door that leads to his mini home."Metro Man, it's Roxanne. Open the door." Roxanne yelled out while ramming the door with her fist, hoping to wake enough attention from him.
Until the door slowly opened to a laid back older man wearing a long brown beard with his clothes and hair all disheveled out.
As if he had been to a drunken party that resulted in a disastrous hangover.
"That's Metro Man? I never knew he was this 'comfortable' with his new lifestyle." Minion whispered to Roxanne with a winced expression on his face.
Since he wasn't there when Megamind and Roxanne visited the area many months ago, right before they immediately found out that he was alive from the accidental explosion.
"Oh believe me. We didn't think he was this slumped out either when we first found him." Roxanne whispered back with a small laugh.
Remembering how bad it was for him to be faking his own death...
...only to realize that it also gave Megamind an opportunity to be much more than a bad reputation.
....a chance to be a hero in everyone's eyes.
Including hers.
"Oh, Roxanne. Uh....I don't think now would be a good time for company....." Metro Man said, rubbing his neck from the embarrassment of the lack in respectable clothing.
"Please, I need your help. The town is in grave danger and..." Roxanne tried to explain before she was cut off quickly from him.
"Roxanne, I thought that we had already agreed on letting Megamind taking over my position as the city's new hero. This isn't my job, anymore." Metro Man reminded her, folding his arms.
"No, you don't understand. Megamind's been taken and we need to get to Hal before it's too late. But we can't do this without you. He's just too strong and only you have the powers to stop him." Roxanne explained, urgently.
"Ah, geez. I don't think I can. I mean look at me? I'm all out of shape. It's gonna take more than a few days worth of exercise to..." Metro Man was going to say before he was interrupted.
"Please....I don't have anywhere else to go and...I can't lose him. I can't go on with my life without seeing his smile or hearing his laugh everyday....there would even be times where I was afraid and he would just simply hold onto my hand, reminding me that everything... was going to be alright. Heh... did you know that he was going to propose to me on our 6 month anniversary? Right before Hal escaped from that prison? Sigh. I know. It's crazy to think that after all of the mess we've been through, I still deserve his kindness. I just wished that Hal would have taken me instead of him." Roxanne pleaded sadly, while Metro Man studied her expression, feeling bad for the whole situation.
He knew he had been spoiled with his gifts from the very beginning and yet...Megamind was never given the same chances that he got, growing up.
Whether it was home life.
Or even friends and family to share much support with.
But the one thing that he was able to express when he finally did have all of those things....
Was selflessness.
Which was something that Metro Man knew he needed to give, if he wanted to do the next right thing.
And that time was now.
"Sigh. Okay. I'll see what I can do. Just...wait here." Metro Man said, shaking his head before heading back inside and shuts the door behind him to change.
