Like any sane person at four o'clock in the morning, Aliya was taking down the Christmas decorations.
Usually, Aliya was more of a leave the lights up until January kind of girl but due to recent events and unforeseen circumstances, it was three days after Christmas and Aliya had had enough of the Santa faces looking at her like she'd stolen a kid's candy cane.
In the midst of this madness, she was certain the majority of the house was working the night shift as she decided to haul all the decorations she had brought with Jackson into a cardboard box, aswell as all the other ones she had collected over the years.
"Reese, I'm sorry—" Aliya was now standing with her hands on her hips in front of where her dog was led, on the Christmas throw blanket in an attempt to put an end to her madness. "—But, I'm gonna need that. Look at all the other blankets you have, those ones are so much better."
Reese simple regarded his owner and the woman who provided him with food. Looking at her as if she needed to go to some sort of prison on the North Pole for being a Grinch as soon as Christmas passed them by.
Aliya blinked, waiting for her dog to finally understand the English language.
Which, the time never came and Aliya was left standing there looking ridiculous with a candy cane hanging out of her mouth and her messy hair falling across her shoulders and down her back.
"C'mon, work with me here." Aliya pleaded, patting Reese on his head in an attempt to shift him slightly to the left so she could sweep the blanket out from under him.
Which she realised, was insane of her. The dog had grown emotionally attached to the blanket and now Aliya was taking her new Grinch outlook to a whole new level— reaping her dog of joy.
"Fine, you win." Aliya said with a sign of defeat, reaching for the snow globe on the mantelpiece as well as yet another Santa ornament. "You can keep the blanket, but I'm keeping my gingerbread biscuit tin."
Reese seemed to settle for that, curling back up comfortably on his blanket in the corning of the sofa, instantly snorting away as Aliya set the decorations carefully in the box.
She picked up the last of the cardboard boxes, taking it into the kitchen to grab the last bits and pieces that couldn't fit in the designated kitchen box.
