"Aliya, what happened?" Jackson questioned as he and April stood in the doorway of the residents lounge after watching the end of the call unfold before their very own eyes. Though, it was safe to say that neither of them had a clue in the world what was going on.
However, judging from Aliya's flushed cheeks and her frustrated pacing the length of the room, it must have been bad.
Jackson's eyes flickered over to Alex, Cristina and Meredith, who had been watching the drama unfold from the comfort of the sofa, their mouths hung open in shock with the absence of words or anything comforting to say to the woman who just found out her parents orchestrated a sick plot to ruin her relationship.
Even though Jackson didn't know this yet, when he realised Elijah was in the corner of the room looking as guilty as ever, he scowled at the man.
He moved his eyes back to his girlfriend, who had just hung up on her mother. "What's going on?"
Aliya dropped her phone down onto the table, the screen blaring up with calls from her father. She scowled at them, hatred and anger for her family overwhelming her. She had to cope with so much crap from them over the years, but this had hit a new low even for them. "I've been freaking Levined, that's what's going on!"
Jackson, even more confused than he was before, took a step into the room and opened his mouth to further question.
But, Aliya quickly broke the brief moments of silence, her stare locking on Elijah. "Are you happy now?"
Elijah avoided her harsh gaze, not actually able to meet her eyes like the coward he was. "I didn't mean to— none of my his was meant to happen, Aliya. I swear."
"What was meant to happen?" Her brow arched high, her phone still lighting up from the table which she chose to ignore. "Please, enlighten me on what you wanted to come out of this."
"I—" Elijah stuttered, his words catching in his throat. "Just not this. It wasn't meant to happen like this—"
"What the hell did you expect?" Aliya wasn't really interested to hear any of his lame excuses. Even the sound of his voice was drilling a hole through her head. "Did you really expect me to come running into your arms like you were some knight in shining whatever?"
