There were moments where the will to live completely disappeared.
And, the truth was that anything would be better than whatever the hell was going on here in this hallway.
Sure, Aliya knew what had happened. In a very hectic and disorganised kind of way where her brain was still trying to piece together every last detail of it all.
She was there when it all went down in the trauma room, when a once perfectly healthy woman had died just moments ago, with every single resident in the hallway crowded around her as everything that could've went wrong, went wrong.
From the very beginning to when time of death, twelve forty five in the morning, was called.
Everything just failed.
With her back pressed up against her chair, Aliya's hands were tapping some sort of rhythmic tune on the armrests out of habit, because the fact that the Chief of Surgery had everyone gathered in the hallway outside the conference was enough to send Aliya's carefully constructed calmness down to rubble. Or, make her convince herself she had single handedly committed a crime.
It never was anything good when you put feuding residents in a crowded hall together. It was bound to end in disaster.
Surgical feuds go back many years sometimes, or decades if you were amongst the big names in the surgical world. Though seeing as this particular feud started long before the Seattle Grace residents and Mercy Wester's even met one another, it seemed the young doctors had many years of arguments and fights left in them.
The Levine family knew a lot about surgical feuds, therefore Aliya was made to master the art of phasing it all out until it became bickering white noise. This was most due to Molly Levine instead of her father, because her mother was definitely not an easy person to get along with, let alone compete with.
Twenty-one year old Molly Elizabeth Winslow, before she had even married into the Levine family, made every single med students life in her a class a living hell.
Everyone knew surgery was in her DNA too. The Winslow surgeons were spread all across the country, the world for that matter. Many of the extended family moved to various places in Europe and Australia to be doctors and surgeon's there too.
