~AMY POV~
"Nexy's mom said that to you?" Asked Melissa.
"Yes. All of it." I replied. Nexy's mom had left with Nexy about an hour ago. It looks like she found out about Damien and her, and she wasn't happy.
"Goddess. That's not good. Damien will be devastated when he discovers that Nexy's mom pulled her out of school." Melissa sighed.
"She said that if she sees any of us near her, she will move her away where nobody can find her," I said. Not only was Tasha keeping her away, not her mother was too. If she moves Nexy away, it will crush Damien. He's already in a very delicate state. Especially after we found her that day, I could add that to the second time I've ever seen Damien cry.
"I guess we could watch over her from afar," Melissa said.
A knock on the door startled us both. "Come in!" I called out. The door opened, and Luca came in. Odd. Luca never visits us. "Mike isn't here. I think he's with Damien training."
"I have a message from Nexy." He said, closing the door behind him. Message from Nexy? Weird. Nexy and Luca don't even talk.
"What is it?" I asked him.
"It was a pretty weird message. She said to find Tasha's phone and get rid of it and not to tell Damien." He responded. Tasha's phone? Why-oh, goddess. Tasha knows.
"Have you told Damien this?" I asked him.
"Not yet. He doesn't want to be bothered right now." He replied.
"Then I suggest you don't mention this to Damien," Melissa said, crossing her arms. There was still some bad blood between them.
"I should be reporting any concerns about Nexy to Damien. Not only that, but he's the future Alpha. We can't keep something this serious from him." Luca shot back.
"And Nexy is your Luna." Melissa reminded him. "If she tells you not to tell Damien, I suggest you don't."
"Nexy could be in trouble if I don't," Luca said.
"Nexy will be in trouble if you do tell him. As future Gamma, it is your responsibility to watch over the Luna. Nexy is your Luna, and you need to protect her from Tasha right now." I said to him.
"Very well. I won't tell him. But the moment I spot trouble, I will tell Damien."
"Deal." Melissa huffed. And with that, he left.
"Tasha knows." I finally said to Melissa.
"How much does she know?" Melissa asked.
"Nexy said to destroy Tasha's phone. Tasha could have pictures of her- oh goddess. Wasn't Tasha the one who found Nexy's phone?!"
"Yes," Melissa replied.
"And suddenly Bryan shows up out of nowhere? This could only mean that Tasha and Bryan have been talking, which means that Tasha has pictures of Nexy-" I stopped myself, not wanting to remember the day I saw the pictures Bryan had sent her from the dance.
"Oh, goddess. If Tasha knows about Bryan, then she knows about Eudora. Tasha is fucking blackmailing Nexy. That's why Nexy told us to stay away from her." Melissa gasped.
"I need to tell Mike." I panicked.
"Mike! We need to talk now!" I mind-linked him.
"Busy! Getting my ass kicked by Damien-"
"Now!" I shouted at him through mind-link. "Nexy is in trouble. Do not fucking tell Damien."
~NEXY POV~
"Do you want me to tell you why I hate wolves?" My mother said when we got home. "Why do I despise those creatures?"
"Actually, yes. For fucking once, I would like you to stop keeping me in the dark about stuff like this!" My mother had a habit of not telling me anything. I'm surprised she even taught me the Merfolk language and their songs. But that was it.
"Over a hundred years ago, the mermaids and the wolves used to coexist. One night when the Queen was visiting, those disgusting Mutts murdered her. In retaliation, the merfolk kidnapped and killed their future King. To avoid going to war, the next Queen banned all merfolk from coming onto land."
"Future King? Wolves don't have a king." All this was so confusing. Why would they kill the mermaid queen if they all lived peacefully?
"Not anymore. Not since we killed their only heir. The King's council didn't know what to do with their King gone and eventually turned it into its current council. Damien's mother comes from a long line of council members, The very ones that oversaw the protection of their King. She will not hesitate to kill you if she finds out who you are. Do you understand?" She said.
"Maybe if you told me this, I wouldn't ever become friends with them. So don't blame this on me. And don't blame this on Damien, either. Damien loves me, and he would never hurt me." I wiped the tears away.
"Not once he finds out the truth about you. It would be best if you stayed away from them. Understand?" She argued.
"Yes. I understand." I muttered. Not only did I have Tasha and Bryan to worry about, but now I had to add Damien to the list. I didn't want to believe it. He loved me. He took care of me. He stayed by my side for three days, hoping I'll wake up.
Why did the Moon Goddess pair me with someone who would kill me if he discovered my secret?
"Your dad understands how important school is, so From now on, you will be doing online classes. I talked to your principal; she understood the situation and has allowed it." She continued.
"Why can't we just move?" I sighed.
"Your dad and I discussed it. But I have some stuff here to take care of. Otherwise, we would." She replied.
Stuff to take care of? More secrets. "Online school is fine." I sighed.
"It's for your good, Nexy. Trust me."
"Of course it is," I replied, taking a deep breath. This turned out to be the worse day of my life.
