The Mermaids' Mate

Chapter 2

Damien POV:

First day back to school after a short three-day weekend. I didn't get much sleep last night, something was keeping my wolf up. I could feel him pacing back and forth in my head.

Something is off about today, I can feel it. he said through our mind link as I drove to school.

What do you mean something is off? I asked him.

I'm not sure. he replied. I pushed him to the back of my mind not wanting to deal with him after he kept me up late.

"Hey, you okay dude?" Asked Mike, my future Beta, I had almost forgotten he was in the car with me.

"I stayed up pretty late last night," I replied.

"Oh? Does this person have a name?" he asked elbowing me. I knew who he was referring to already. Tasha, a girl from our pack. She's pretty and all but I didn't feel any emotional connection to her. She's always had a crush on me, but I was never able to like her back. Even after sleeping with her a few times. I kept her close cause she's a good fighter, but that was about it. Everyone thought we were dating cause we were always together, but that wasn't the case. We wolves prefer to wait for our mates. Maybe that's why I wasn't attracted to her.

"No, wasn't really in the mood. My wolf was just tensed up." I said as I pulled into my parking spot. My eighteenth birthday was coming up which meant I was getting closer to finding my mate. Probably why he was acting this way.

"You want to go on a run today? We could run out to the Lake near the pack territory." Mike suggested as we headed into the school.

"Sure. Maybe that's what my wolf needs. It's been a few weeks since I let him out."

"Alrighty. I'll see you in English class so we can talk more about it," he said turning to his class.

"sounds good," I replied. I headed to Ms. Johnson's math class. It was a few classrooms away from Mike. I got to my seat and was hit by the most intoxicating smell. It smelled like lavender and vanilla. This got my wolf's attention immediately.

She's here! he yelled out.

Who's here!? I asked him.

Our mate! I can sense her. she's close. I looked around the classroom checking the girls, but none caught my wolfs and I attention. She's not here, but she's nearby! The sweet smell was getting stronger. The bell rang indicating class had started but I still wasn't able to see her. A few minutes later the classroom door opened and my wolf went crazy. The smell of lavender and vanilla filled the room.

That's her! That's our mate! He howled with excitement. 

Her? But who was she? I questioned him. I have never seen her before in my life. She was probably the new girl somebody mentioned a few days ago. She's a human. I frowned. Our mate is a human?

Humans weren't aware of the existence of Wolves and it was especially rare for a wolf to have a human mate. Let alone the Alpha. Looking at her up and down I realize that for a human she was gorgeous. She was short but she was very curvy.

I was glad the teacher asked her to sit next to us, As she walked towards me I could feel my wolf wanted to take over. The sweet smell of lavender hit me like a ton of bricks when she sat down. Having her next to me made me realize how small and fragile she looked. I needed this class to be over already. She's only been here a couple minutes and she was already driving me crazy.

I found myself staring down her shirt every chance I had. It was difficult not to with the shirt she was wearing. Her breasts were on the verge of spilling out. As if they were waiting for me to caress them and- I shook my wolves dirty thoughts out of my head. Last thing I wanted was a hard on during class.
