"Humans are more ready to repay an injury than a benefit, because gratitude is a burden whereas revenge a pleasure."

Aisha's POV

As I lay out the riddles mom had left me, I realise one clue she really wanted to reach me. That it was not Dad who was my real enemy. It was someone, or something else. She has framed each and every sentence with so much efforts that my head spins looking at each detail. Every single thing that matters has been laid infront of me. From a small pendrive to a huge metal box that contains the Ronin sword, each material holds its own importance.

Rohit grabs my hair and ties it to a shape while our daughter rests noisily in my lap. She has been dozing nicely which makes me sigh. I smile as I feel Rohit presses my shoulders, to relieve some tension. It does wonders actually.
"What do you think about escaping to Miami? You can own a massage centre and me, well I'll sell drugs?" I chuckle earning a heartfelt laugh from him.
"Not a bad idea. Remember when we sat on our school rooftop and talked about life?" He asks and I nod.

"Well don't forget what we spoke. Sometimes running away seems a better option because we don't want our loved ones to feel the pain we're going through. You did the right thing by safeguarding our little one for all these years, Aisha. Now it's time you face things you left behind. And you're not alone. I was there with you on that terrace, I'll stand with you in the warfield." He joins our foreheads. I smile as I kiss him, teary eyed.

"So, enough emo talk. How much did you dig?" Rohit shifts to sit beside me. I notice that Adyant is taking too much time. Kukk joins us soon and raises her brows expectantly.
"I need to wait for him. By now, I guess whatever his work was would have gotten over or postponed." I inform and look at all the materials.
"Sorry, had to bid bye and all. Now! Good and bad news, which one you want to hear?" Adyant asks, being unusually enthusiastic.
"Spill about both. I'll decide which one's good and bad." I declare.

"Mahira left to Hawaii for a vacation." That brings a wide smile on my face.
"But Dad has stolen our major artillery." The grin falters.
"For now we have everything under control. Currently, Rob and Ivan are handling the shipment." Adyant finishes with a glint on his face.
"Very well, the only bad news is that we have to visit Abir and his companions." Kukk concludes.
"Gear up. Time to fight the last war." I smirk.

The following night

"Rohit! Get back here." I yell at him as he sprints towards Rhea again, trying to catch her. They have been fooling around for a long time. It's time we leave but they won't listen to me.
"Common, you need to brush your teeth, tiger." Rohit catches ahold of the little monster and ushers her towards the bathroom. We decided to let Kukk stay and take care of her, while me, Rohit and Adyant would fly to Kolkata.
"Don't frown too much, you look ten times old." Kukk laughs, setting her black tea down on the table.

"You're one to talk about age, old woman." I retort and she rolls her eyes.
"You'll be okay?" I ask her, concern underlying my words.
"Ofcourse. It's been so long since I actually spent time with a kid. You were gone and my kids, well they chose their paths supposedly." She sighs reminiscing.
"I'll track them down. Advaith and Aadhrithi sure have missed you, Kukk." It feels so weird to mention their names out loud, especially full ones.

"Hmm, they better be. After Kunal, you were my only source of happiness. To think that we aren't a family anymore-"

A loud bang interrupts her monologue. I swiftly turn towards the noise, taking out my gun and loading it. Carefully, I step forward and check for any furniture damage. Thankfully, the porch remains untouched. Again I cautiously stride towards the road where the car was parked. No sign of humans. What the fuck caused the sound! And then it hits me, the filthy smell of cigarette.
