"Hey! Mom?" I called out when I got into the house. I made my way to the kitchen where she was cooking.
"What's up?" She asked when she seen me step into the kitchen, she raised her eyebrow placing her hands on her hips like I was up to something bad.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked offended.
"Because you never want anything..." She said in a duh tone.
"So..."
"Sutton, what was it that you wanted?" I scoffed and rolled my eyes.
"Geez, nothing if you're going to make a big deal about it." Her face turned from curious to confused.
"Ugh, just spit it out Sutton." I chewed on my bottom lip then let out a sigh.
"I was just curious if we still had the camping stuff?" She raised her eyebrow once more and shook her head.
"Why would you be curious about that?" I just groaned annoyed by her questions.
"Because, I just want to know!" She gave me a funny look then shrugged her shoulders.
"I'm not sure, we should. Do you want to go camping or something?" She questioned.
"No... I met this homeless man today." Her eyes widened and I could swear her mouth popped open.
"I wanted to give him the camping supplies since we never use them... Maybe he could put them to use." She gave me a proud smile and nodded her head.
"I'll talk to your father about getting them together for you. I'm proud you're finally breaking out of your shell." I just rolled my eyes and smiled.
"Thanks, just let me know what dad says." I say as I make my way out of the kitchen toward my bedroom.
I knew my dad wouldn't be home any time soon, so to pass time I went through all my new clothes and tried to debate on what I wanted to wear for the first day of school. Once I finally got bored of that I decided to try and finish my book, picking up my new book I opened it and smiled when I seen Brendon's number. Taking a deep breath I punched in his number, my heart raced as it started to ring. Just as I was about to hang up a deep voice came over the line causing chill bumps to cover my arms.
"Hello?" He asked again reminding me I haven't yet said anything.
"Uh... Brendon?" I asked nervously, I didn't even think that he could have given me a false number till now.
"Yes... Whom is this?" He asked skeptical now.
"Oh, it's um... Sutton... We meet-"
"At the book store! I didn't think you'd actually call after two days past." He chuckled softly; I couldn't help but to smile at his laugh.
"Yeah, sorry about that..." I muttered awkwardly.
"Nah, it's fine; what made you call now?" I looked up and seen my mom walking past my room.
"I'm not really sure." I said letting out a soft sigh.
"Well... I'm glad you did." I couldn't stop the blush from taking over my cheeks at that, he always seemed to make me blush by saying the sweetest things.
After talking until his phone died we decided that we'd meet up tonight and catch a movie, it wasn't a date but just to show me the town. When I had told my mom of my plans she squealed and nearly peed herself from excitement, I'm just praying that she will let me borrow the car for a few hours so she wouldn't have to drop me off. Trying to be a suck up I asked for her help to get ready, hoping it would butter her up to say yes; I even let her do my make-up which I was highly picky about.
