"So what did the lawyer say?" I asked mom as I took a bite of my egg roll.  "He's fast tracking us as a favor to Bill Thompson, so the papers are already drawn up which is good and he already expects John to refuse to sign which is why we will be attending court within the next week or two. Bill sure has a lot of contacts here who get things done quickly. It took me a year to plan our wedding now it might take me two weeks to get a divorce."  She shook her head and took a bite of her chicken.

When my mom had gotten home Collin was getting ready to walk out the door, we had talked and made sure our friendship was okay. I shouldn't have done what I did, I don't know what came over me to act such a way; I'm just glad that my phone had went off when it did because who knows how far things would have gotten. Collin was still persistent on being there for me so he said he'd call me tonight after he went and took care of himself, I didn't really care what he meant by that. "Sutton?" I glanced up to see my mom looking at me expectingly. "Huh?!" Shaking her head she laughed. "I asked why Collin left in such a hurry? He seems like a nice guy..... Are you into him?" My eyes nearly bugged, I quickly swallowed the bite of egg roll I had eaten again. "We kinda made out and like.... I wasn't feeling it at all, all I could think about is Brendon.... Then my phone started going off thankfully but I declined it and it ended up being Brendon, when I tried to call him it wouldn't go through.... I really freaking miss him." She wrapped me in a hug and patted my head. "I know, baby girl. I'm so sorry that your father ruined it for you. That will be the last time he does, I promise." I just held her tight and finally allowed my built up heartbreak take over.

"Sutton, afternoon! Can you join me in my office please?" Bill said as I was clocking in for work, I fallowed after him and sat down in the chair in front of his desk. "So how is school going?" He started off. "It's going good, Collin walks me to most of my classes. All the work is something I already did last year, so I'm already caught up." He nodded beaming. "That's excellent news! I'm also happy that Collin is helping you instead of pestering you." He said chuckling, I couldn't help but to laugh too. "Hey, now I never said he wasn't!" We continued laughing. "So there is something I wanted to discuss with you. I was curious if you'd be interested in taking a promotion, I know that you attend school which is fine and I'm more than willing to work it around your schedule. I don't want to overwhelm you or your studies." "A promotion? Would I get a pay raise?" He smiled chuckling. "Of course! I'd like you to be my assistant, Valerie will work for me in the morning and then when you get off school she can go home. You may also be required to join me on business trips once in a great blue moon, I prefer not to leave Collin alone for too long or too much. Lord knows what kinda trouble he'd get into." That sounds like it's a lot of responsibility, stress even. "I.... I don't know... I mean, what would you expect me to do?" "Well basic admin stuff really, answering my calls and schedule meetings, filing and emailing with clients." Yikes! I'm not sure if I was really up for that kind of thing. "I promise, Sutton. I'm not going to put to much on you, Valerie will have most of that handled by the time you get here. How about this.... you can try it for a week and if it's to much for you then you can stay in the mailroom." What have I got to lose besides time? "Okay, I'll try it for a week." He smiled and stood up. "Great! We'll start right now!" Wait! What?! "Now?!" I asked nearly gasping for air, I haven't even been trained nor mentally prepared! "Yes, right now!"

For the rest of my day Valerie has been training me on everything, I've pretty much have a composition note book filled with notes, tips and tricks on everything. She was highly impressed with how fast I was learning the ropes, it turns out that Collin would now be the new mailroom clerk. "Okay, Rosso. I'm going to head home, I'm pretty sure you've got the hang of it now. All you have to do is take this file in and have him sign it, copy it and mail the copy to this address." She said writing down the information. "All you have to do it hand it to Collin once you write the address down, then you'll file it away in that cabinet over there. I've already highlighted where he needs to sign in yellow which is something you might want to look over for future reference." She showed me by flipping to different pages with yellow highlighter markings. "I know it's a lot to take in, I have a good feeling that you'll get the hang of it though, Rosso." She has been calling me that all day, I couldn't help but to wonder if maybe she didn't know my name. "My name is Sutton..." she just smiled. "I know..." Raising a brow at her, if she knew then why call me something else? "Then why do you keep calling me Rosso?" "Rosso means Red in Italian, which I am. Does it bother you? I don't want to offend you, I just like giving people nicknames." I smiled shaking my head. "No! I love it, it just confused me is all." She laughed patting my hand. "Good, well you have a good night! If you need anything just save it for tomorrow!" Nodding I waved watching her as she left the office. Okay, Sutton. This needs to be signed then... shit, what else was I supposed to do with it? I'll just stress it after he signs the damn thing, getting up from my new awesome desk I make my way over to his door and knock gently. "I want you to come in as my project director, you have the ability to excel in this position and create a lifetime career in the field." He was quite for a moment, I know I shouldn't have been eavesdropping but I couldn't help it. "I don't care what he said, this is my company! I want you to work for me, you're exactly the type of person that I'd want helping me make my team succeed. Please just think about it and get back with me." He was offering my sperm donors job to someone else? Does that mean that he's going to fire him? "Don't worry about anything, I'll talk to Dustin over there and get everything handled as long as you accept my offer." Glancing at the clock on the wall, I knew I was running out of time so I had to get in there and get his signatures. Knocking on the door again he called me in quickly hanging up the phone, luckily he already knew what to do so all I had to do was stand there and wait for him to finish. "So, I... um, I overheard you offering my fathers position to someone else?" He quickly glanced up at me then went back to signing. "Yes ma'am, I'm sure you're aware that he never stays in one place for long anyhow... I need to make sure everything on my end is covered so when he does go I'm not left shorthanded ..... Off the record I'm letting him go because I have a feeling that you're parents divorce is about to get nasty and I do not want him taking it out on you here." I just nodded giving him a thankful smile. "Alright, here you go! Now just have a copy made and then just set it in your outgoing mail bin, Collin will be around to pick it up before closing and Tammy will mail it tomorrow, Valerie show you where to file the original copy?" Thank goodness he is telling me this, I quickly jotted it all down just incase. "Yes sir! I'll do that now." He handed me the file back. "Excellent, one more thing before you go please check voicemails and emails." I wrote that down as well and he just chuckled. "Got it!"
