As the week drew to a closing, my nerves started building up. School was on Monday and my mom still had yet to register me, she had said something about one of my virtual classes had to be completed but didn't understand how it wasn't due to the fact that I completed every other class but that one. She was hoping for some answers and thinking that the school would be able to help her.
"Don't worry about tomorrow, you'll do great." Brendon said trying to calm my nerves, I was currently at his house watching a movie with him. Over the past two weeks we have started to become good friends, we were still a mystery to each other but that's the fun of taking time to get to know someone.
"I know, I just hate always having to start over everywhere I go." I mumbled, He reached for my hand and brought it to his lips kissing my knuckles lightly. His actions always sent my heart soaring in my chest.
"Well, I don't know about you... But I am sure happy that you ended up here." He muttered then playfully bit my fingers causing me to giggle. Oh boy was I happy too!
"Yeah, this town is alright." I giggled more as he started tickling me.
"This town can get pretty boring after being here forever." He said once we both sobered up from laughing.
"How long have you been here for?" I asked hoping maybe I could get to know him a little better.
"Oh man, for as long as I can remember. I grew up here and just kinda never had the urge to leave." I nodded my head.
"So... You know everyone here pretty much?" He nodded his head as his fingers intertwined with mine.
"Pretty much, it's a good thing and it's a bad thing." I glanced up from our hands to meet his gorgeous blue eyes.
"Tell me, why is it good and bad?" I whispered not being able to speak any louder.
"Well... When you know everyone, that means everyone knows you. When everyone knows you then they know pretty much everything about you. Therefore if you get a new car for example, they know. Just like if I had a girlfriend they would know and if we split.."
"They would know." I finished off for him, I could see where he was going. Living in a small town where everyone knows everyone could be quite annoying.
"Exactly! When my ex Lacy and I split, the whole town was like 'Oh we're so sorry to hear, y'all were so cute together. Blah blah blah.' And that doesn't make it easier on either person for the break up." I just nodded more curious of this ex and if she still lives here.
"So since this is a small town, does that mean you run into your ex's quite often?" I couldn't meet his eyes as I asked, I knew if I did then he would see the insecurity in them. He wasn't even my boyfriend and I was asking like a jealous girlfriend. I need to take a chill pill.
"Yeah, once in a while. It was a mutual break up so things aren't weird, when we see each other we talk just like old time friends. She's married now with a child, so it's just one of those things." I just nodded trying to act nonchalant.
"That's good, that would suck if there were hard feelings." I muttered straightening myself out on the couch. I had a feeling I was making this awkward now, just what I wanted not to do.
"Yeah, defiantly." He said eyeing me questioningly. I just smiled and went back to watching the movie or at least pretended to.
Once the movie was over I quickly jumped to my feet nearly causing Brendon to fall off the couch, he sent me a confused look and stood up next to me.
"Thanks for the movie and pizza. I had fun." I muttered as I gathered my belongings, I just could not wait to get out of here.
"Sutton...?" He grabbed me by the hand as I started to head for the door causing me to stop and turn to face him.
