I woke up by loud noises on the outside of the carriage, looking up I saw Ajax clutching to the handle of the door. "What's happening?" I gasped as I saw figures sneaking around. Instantly after he saw that I woke up, he pressed his hand on my mouth glaring down at me with wide eyes.
"Don't make any noise." He'd tell me before getting up and and covering me in a blanket. "Stay here." His demanding voice sent shivers down my back as well as the look he gave me. After I confirmed that I wouldn't leave the carriage, he got out and you could hear several people rush to him.
"That's a Harbinger!" One of them gasped, taking a glance through the window I saw that none of the treasure hoarders dared to move closer. "It's that crazy ginger." Another one said. I assumed he was an alchemist since he had a couple of purple portions attached to his belt.
"Hey I'm standing right here, what do you want?" Ajax smiled at them, by their looks one could see that they were confused. "Are you alone?" The big treasure hoarder asked him and he nodded. "What's in there?" One pointed at the carriage, I immediately ducked my head as their attention was now drawn on the cart. "Nothing, just some potatoes and fruit for the high lady herself."
"Are you her servant or what?" Oh shit, Ajax hated it to be called a servant, that man chose violence. "I'm not anybody's servant, I could take over this fucking world." Yes of course, I rolled my eyes and smiled softly, of course he would always babble things about ruling this world, making it all lay at my feet.
"Yea yea of course." The tall one with an axe approached him, Ajax would do the same slowly. "Oh you intend to fight me?" He chuckled lightly and removed his coat moving his sleeves up, in his hands would appear water blades. It was interesting to watch him fight, if you watched closely you could even learn some of his unique techniques.
As that man charged at Ajax, he would swing his blades and slide on the ground below him. Instead of stabbing him, my man seemed as he wanted to play for a little bit and kicked his back. Right, back then we used to spar at least once a week, but thats been more that 2 years now.
Should I maybe play some tricks and trigger the reactions? I smirked poking my finger towards the sky, still staying hidden as the young man had told me. Ice crystals would begin to drop down on certain places, I could see the harbinger grin proudly.
The treasure hoarders arm suddenly froze, Ajax would slowly start to use his daggers, on his face rested an insane smile. Of course, he enjoyed this.
Like I child who experienced snow for the first time his face beamed in satisfaction and happiness as the enemy began to bleed on several places. His sickening laughters might've scared the other hoarders, a few were missing.
"Wait a second..." I took a glance behind me only to find the alchemist standing right behind me, before I could scream I received a dizzying slap right across my face. I fell down holding my tingling cheek, some blood would run down my lip as I happened to bite it. The treasure hoarder pulled me back onto my feet by my hair making me wheeze in pain.
"Seems to have brought his slut. Let's see how much he'd enjoy seeing his toy being played with by someone else." I clutched to the man's arm so that this wouldn't hurt so much, tears welled up in my eyes as I couldn't make a noise that was loud enough for Ajax to hear. Why for the archons sake did I always up in such situations?
"Fuck!" I whined, my attention drawn onto a small icicle beginning to grow behind the man. I grinned lightly as the razor sharp tip poked that guy's neck. "Let me go." I huffed, the tip scratching his skin. Instead of doing what I wanted, he would tug my hair and push me backwards through the door out of the carriage landing hard on my back.
The ice crystal shattered on the ground as I was barely able to breathe, desperately gasping for air. The man was about to reach out for me again but suddenly, as if a lightning had struck right next to me, Ajax had pinned him against the wall of the carriage even though he's just been like a hundred meters away from here.
"Has nobody taught you to keep your fingers off things that don't belong to you?" His trembly voice was kept low and quiet, yet you could hear the anger boil inside him. I turned to see the other criminals that were gathered around to see this spectacle, but to my surprise, none of the was alive anymore.
My eyes widened and I trembled in fear as I saw each of them slaughtered on the ground, Ajax has done that during the last few seconds. So he got stronger or never actually used all his power to fight.
As I looked back at the two, blood splattered right into my face as the man with the copper coloured hair had sliced that man's throat. Suddenly his mood changed and he knelt down before me with a heart warming smile wiping the blood off my face. "Are you okay?"
I closed my eyes and fell against his chest, trying to calm my breath. The harbinger picked me up and brought me back into the carriage, our ride would continue then. Snuggly wrapped in the blanket as it got frosty, I was curled op on his lap nuzzling against his chest.
"Ajax, why would you cheat on me?" I expected the color of his face to drain and that he wouldn't be able to give me an answer but he remained calm. "This is nothing to talk about in a carriage, we will reach Snezhnaya soon, I will explain everything there."
