y/n's pov

bill ran and shoved the guy away from me, catching me by surprise. the guy stumbled a little, but he looked back at bill angrily.

"who the fuck are you?"

"her boyfriend. now back the fuck up before i kill you." he angrily shouts at the guy, gently grabbing my arm and suitcase and safely directing me towards the car.

my heart skipped a beat when he said that. i appreciated the gesture and smiled kindly at him, but i was still scared.

he quickly opened the car door, helping me get in and took my suitcase and set it in the backseat.

he gave the guy another glare before getting into the drivers seat and speeding away.

"are you okay?" he asked, seeming really concerned.

"i'm fine." i mumble, looking down at my hands in my lap. i felt very vulnerable and embarrassed at that moment, my mom had just kicked me out and bill had to come and get me. not to mention that weird guy.

he looked at me and decided not to push it, paying attention to the road.

"you can stay with us as long as you want." he smiled, trying to lighten the mood.

"i can't do that, bill. i don't wanna just barge in on you guys like that." i look down.

"don't say that. we used to do this stuff all the time as kids. why should it be different now? we're friends." he furrowed his eyebrows at me.

i just nodded, understanding what he was saying. and he was right.

"it'll be alright. don't worry." he said, suddenly grabbing my hand and squeezing it. my face lit up, and i was thankful it was completely dark out.

"why were you so early?" i suddenly questioned, chuckling a bit.

"i was speeding down that highway." he laughed. "you had me worried, and then you hung up."

"i didn't mean to, my phone died." i sighed.

"wonder if it still works. you think she turned it off?" he asked.

"i have no idea. i've never seen my mom just snap like that." i cross my arms, getting comfortable in the leather seats of his coupe.

"i don't think i've ever seen her snap at all. not that i remember, at least." he responded.

"she never did when you guys were around. actually, i don't think she did it that much in general, anyway. recently she's been more pissed off at me." i sigh.

"well, you guys moved back here because of your grandma's death, right? and she also has to take care of your uncle." he says.

i stay silent for a moment, thinking. "you're right. and here i am going out 3 hours away almost everyday." i respond sadly.

"don't think of it like that. you're a teenager, you can live your life. you're only a teenager once. i think she's just stressed." he tells me.

"you're right. thanks, bill."

he smiles and looks at me, before turning back to the road for a looong drive back to his place.

i'm nudged awake by a soft voice calling my name. i look over and see bill, who already has my suitcase out of the car.

"we're here."

i sleepily unbuckle my seatbelt and get out of the car, closing the door behind me.

he leads me inside their huge house, unlocking the door to see all the lights out.
