A few minutes passed while the chip was inserted and connected, then you returned to your computer to let it install. You monitored the process, so you were sure there were no complications. Connor was in a sleep mode of sorts; suspended for the time being, so he could be worked on without shutting down.

When there was nothing else you could double check, you went to close his chest and disconnect him from your computer. You let your hand remain on his chest as support; the first few moments might overwhelm him. "Connor. Honey. Come on, I'm all finished," you murmured. You brushed your free hand along his LED; it was something similar to moving a computer mouse to wake a desktop.

Stirring a tiny bit, his skin reappeared beneath your hand. Opening his eyes, he smiled when he found you watching. Then his gaze looked away, slightly alarmed.

You hadn't exaggerated; he could actually feel everything he was in contact with. The clothing was the worst offender, but it was light and not restricting. It would be easy to forget about it. The metal surface he laid on was cold, but growing warmer.

That was a marvel in and of itself; temperature differences! And to a lesser extent, materials were the same, vastly different from each other.

When the initial shock began to abate, the realization of your hand on him sank in. Your touch was warm, but in a more immediate way. Out of habit the android covered your hand with his own, finally opening his mouth to speak up. "... this is... indescribable."

"Take all the time you need. Go easy on yourself, too. A lot of the common stuff you'll pass as second nature soon enough, but you'll be noticing random things for awhile." There was a smile on your face, though you were frantically trying to ignore how... well, how well he was built. You knew that a handful of models were similar- the male ones, anyway- but this was one you were already attracted to. Whoever decided to give a prototype formidable combat skills, an adorable personality, and a goddamn six-pack needed to be shot. Or revered.

Connor was silently in agony for similar reasons. The affections you offered were already appreciated. But now he was all too aware of your hand, and even though he'd been advised to take it easy... "Are you unwell?"

"Hmm? Oh, no, no, I'm... I'm okay. Lost in thought." Finally pulling your hand back, you looked away towards your desk. "... honey, I... I need to work. I don't know how long it'll take, but I'm letting you know now in case it's two in the morning and I'm still down here."

He pushed himself into a sitting position, watching your behavior slowly break down. "Working so late on what? Can I assist with any of it?"

Chewing your lower lip, you stared at the floor. "... maybe. I don't know. But I need to do something about your virus. I wasted too much fucking time doing shit that could have waited... and I don't know how much it's already spread..."

Your voice had finally begun to break, and Connor practically rocketed off of the table to get to you. You were gathered in his hold, his own eyes closing. Now he could genuinely embrace you, and feel it. Not the lackluster pressure alone; you were free to cling to him and the android felt like he could tend to you properly. "If I am needed in any way, I will be here. Whether you require my systems connected to your computer, or just something small from the kitchen. Just because I am the one needing your solution doesn't mean I cannot take care of you, as well." After a moment, he registered another new sensation, but it had poor implications. "... you are crying."

"Connor, I'm sorry. I'm so scared I'll do something wrong, or that I'm too late." Liquid was an entirely different feel, but he hated knowing that it was tears trickling down.

Gently taking your face, a kiss was left to your forehead before your android guided you to your desk. "Work. I have complete trust in your abilities. If you've given me this gift, you are more than capable of erasing this toxic virus." As you sat down, however, Connor turned the chair so you were facing him. "I ask one request."

Wiping your eyes, you waved your hand. "Go ahead, hon."

"I..." Pause. Focus. "... before you are lost in your work, will you allow me to finally have a kiss that I can feel?"

The smile that crept onto your features was subtle, but no less felt. "All right, honey. It's... hard to tell you no," you added, getting to your feet again. "Just take it easy. Like I said--"

He'd already taken your head and tilted it back. Where all his nervous mannerisms had gone, you weren't sure. Either he was comfortable enough or extremely driven. All you could do was hang back and let the android take things at his own pace.

Although you'd intended to get right to work, the single kiss turned to two, then several more. Connor's grip had tightened slightly, and probably would have gone on kissing if you hadn't taken his hands to pull them away from you. There was disappointment embedded in his eyes, but you poked at his chest. "There's plenty of time for that. Let me fix you first. Please."

A few moments of blinking and the android seemed to come back to reality. "I... should I remain down here or would I be in the way?"

"I'm just at my desk, so it's up to you." Giving no other instruction, he went upstairs as you focused on the monitor.

[... strange. If she'd done nothing, I may not have stopped. But... this loss of control is nothing like the others...]

A few hours passed, and Connor was called for only once, to retrieve a particular flash drive you couldn't locate. That way you could keep working while it was sought after. But as he turned to leave again you caught hold of his wrist. "Stay. I'm just about finished; I need to put it on the flash drive, then I can insert it."

Eyebrows up, the android settled himself into the chair nearby again. "I was expecting to wait for another hour or so."

"Normally you would have. But since you were plugged in earlier, I was able to use some of your data so this is more effective." The drive was pulled from the desktop before you turned to face him. "Do you trust me?"

The hand grasping the drive was taken, and Connor gently guided it behind his head. "Yes," he answered, capturing your lips with his own again as the drive was inserted.

Agreeing to accept whatever pain might come may have been an error in hindsight: as soon as the program on the drive began to counteract the malignancy, Connor clutched his head, wincing against the process. The groaning from his mouth worried you, but not as much as the blue droplets splattering to the basement floor. "--Connor?! Honey, it's okay, I promise! It won't last long!"

He'd leaned so far over, still holding his head, that he soon dropped to his knees with his head in your lap. But you were right, of course; the pain was settling back down, his pained expression softening. Slowly he pulled his hands away, arms wrapping around your waist. There was still a little blue blood dribbling from his nose and mouth, but it was what was left over; the bleeding itself had stopped.

When you felt his weight sink into you, the flash drive was removed. Your android did not move, nor did you encourage him to. You ran a hand through his hair gently. "How do you feel, hon? Better?"

It took Connor a couple of seconds to reply. "... I did not expect pain. Considering the thirium, I believe that it had always been painful. Only... I am capable of feeling it now." His head lifted, watching you with a more clear mind than he'd had lately. "... thank you."

You weren't surprised when his head went back down into your lap. The whole ordeal had probably worn him out. By the time he did pull away you said nothing, taking his hand to lead him upstairs again. The drive had been put away in your desk, hopefully for good.

He tried to ask you several times what you were doing, but he got no answer. You just shook your head, leading him into your room. It took a couple of tries but you finally coaxed Connor to go to bed... though he would only comply if you were with him. So you ended up with your android's arms wrapping you once more, falling asleep almost instantly once he'd gotten settled.

The trees were gone, the pond bone-dry. All the infection had been taken care of, and he looked everywhere for any sort of trace. When none could be seen, he finally, truly began to relax, seated against the marble pillar in the center.

The lone scarlet flower swayed with the wind, planted firmly just out of his sight. As Connor let his guard down, the roots spread and burrowed deeper.
