Parking your car, you approached the front doors, feeling your hand being gently taken into your android's. The doors slowly swung open again, and a voice called from somewhere within. "Come on in, I've got my hands full again, but I'll be right there!"

You had to practically drag Connor into the wide living room; he seemed a good deal unwilling. "Connor, you okay? You seem upset at something."

Hearing your words he snapped back to reality, offering a reassuring smile. "Ah, I'm sorry. Sometimes I get distracted when processing information."

"... what the hell distracted you, then? You look like you want to be anywhere but here."

Nothing was said at first, but he cupped your face and left a kiss on your forehead. "I assure you, I am right where I want to be. Please don't mind me."

You sighed through your nose. "Okay, okay."

Footsteps nearby caught your attention, but Connor didn't release your face. So when Markus finally came into view, he stopped fairly quickly with a grin, pointing from one to the other. "I have immaculate timing, don't I? Walking up when you two are busy. You'd think I'd have that data saved somewhere."

You smiled a bit, yet your android kept his mouth shut, hands sliding down to your shoulders. The attempt at humor was poorly received, and your bodyguard simply didn't react.

Now that things were properly awkward, Markus nodded to himself, looking anywhere but to the two of you. "Right. Anyway. I'm sure she's already explained why I asked you here."

"She has," the other male replied, tone low. "Something involving me."

Sensing something seriously wrong, he tried to smile but couldn't look away from how he was being stared down. "Yeah, the painting. Actually, Connor, you never got to see the first one. Once you see it, I can explain what I'm planning for your part." Jerking his head to the studio behind him, Markus added, "When you're ready, just head in there, okay?"

[Connor, are you all right?]

When he got no reply either way, the android quickly returned to the studio. Anything to break that seething gaze.

With a gentle smile, your android pulled you close. "This shouldn't take all day. Why not explore the house while I let Markus do what he needs to?"

You weren't blind. You'd seen how uncomfortable Markus was. "What did you tell him?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean he looked like he was about to shit himself. Connor, I know you communicate internally, now what did you tell him?"

Lowering his head a little, he gave a sheepish smile. "I warned him that if he needed you again, that you have bruises from my hands."

He was promptly smacked in the arm. "Why would you tell him something like that?! It's no one's fucking business!"

A hand covered your mouth. "I warned him so he wouldn't think you were being abused again." As your bodyguard strolled towards the studio, you frowned.

He wouldn't fucking think that, Connor...

The studio was lit well, most of the easels empty again. Markus stood by the drawn curtains on the side, managing a smile when the detective finally came in. "I think once you see this one, you'll know what I'm going for with the next." Like he had for you, he pulled the rope to reveal the huge piece.

Connor had to take a couple of steps back to see it as a whole. It was stunning, detailed, and very clearly you. Even he could see the angelic likeness, with the android arms spread outward and up.
