It was the Fourth of July. We headed over to the Fisher's to find everyone there, the dads and even Mr. Conklin's new girlfriend made it to the occasion. We all found ourselves out back near the pool.

"Hey, breathe. You don't want all these memories to be lost because of one stupid night," Shayla told me.

I took a deep breath and looked around. Belly and Jeremiah were nowhere to be found until they came out with margaritas. Just what I needed. We took the margaritas to the beach with the rest of the debs and boys.

"Pour me a glass of that," I asked.

"Y/n? You're drinking?" Jeremiah asked.

"Yeah, is there a problem with that?" I asked.

"You just don't really drink is all," he said.

I chugged some of it down. It was so good. No burn like the party. It was sweet and cold.

"Slow down you two! It's not a race," Nicole told off me and Conrad.

"Yeah, save some for the rest of us please," Jeremiah said.

"What about if we play a drinking game? I mean isn't that what the Fourth of July is all about?" Belly asked.

Everyone agreed and we started flipping coins and getting each other to drink. We were all having a lot of fun. I didn't feel the same pressure I had been feeling. I felt a tap on my shoulder and I looked over.

"Hey, you should slow it down," Spencer said.

"This coming from you?" I questioned. "Jeez. You've been like this all summer."

"Come on Y/n, I'm just trying to look out for you," he said.

"Well. I can look out for myself, thank you," I said.

"Y/n! Come on!" Shayla shouted to me.

I nodded and made my way to her. I looked back only to find Jeremiah making his way to Spencer. They both seemed so bothered. I shrugged it off though and followed as we all made our way to the boat house out on the water. The debs gossiped about celebrities. I looked over to the yard to see Jeremiah playing football with his dad. Why did he have to be so fineeeeee??? I was supposed to be mad at him.

"Y/n?" Shayla called and I looked back.

"Yeah?" I answered.

"Any opinions on the Conrad thing?" Nicole asked.

"Sorry, I wouldn't know. We don't really talk," I said.

"He talks about you a lot," Belly lied.

"Really?" Nicole asked.

"Yeah," she responded.

"Hi, you may want to hydrate," Cam said, handing Belly some water.

One was presented to me as well. I looked up to see it was Spencer.

"Our moms will kill us if they see you drunk," he said.

I sighed and took the water. I drank some of it, tuning back into the conversation.

"Belly, by the way, I love that dress," Shayla complimented.

"Oh thanks, Taylor got it for me actually," Belly said.

"Well, Taylor has great taste," Shayla said.

"Yeah, she does. You know what? You and Taylor are like twins. Cause you're both like mega fashiony, and you're both like... baddies. And you both like the same summer boy," Belly said.

I may have been drinking, but I was better off than her obviously. Shit Belly.

"We do?" Shayla questioned.

"We should go for that walk," Cam said.

Cam brought Belly up and tried to walk away with her, only for her to pull back.

"No no no. Look Shayla, like don't worry, because my brother is an idiot and it didn't mean anything. It didn't mean anything."

"What didn't mean anything?" Shayla asked.

"Them, them kissing. He like loves you. He looves you," Belly said.

Cam pulled her far away from us. Good choice on Cam. I looked over to Shayla.

"Are you okay?" I asked. "Should we get you a ride?"

"I just want to get out of here," Shayla said, opening up Uber.

I patted her back before just hugging her. I walked with her to the front and waited with her.

"Shayla I'm so sorry. I have to stay, I have to make sure my mom doesn't get-" I started.

"No Y/n, it's okay," she said.

"Call me the minute you need something okay?" I said. "I will drive right over to you."

She nodded.

"Don't worry, we'll stick with her," Nicole said.

"If she needs me," I said.

"We'll call," Nicole said.

I watched as they started to leave and Steven got yelled at. I made my way back to the backyard and sat down. It was quiet, surprisingly.

"Everything okay?" Jeremiah asked, sitting down next to me.

"Just some drama with the debs," I sighed.

Conrad angrily made his way towards the house, covered in dirt.

"What's that all about?" I asked.

"He's just being a dick," he said.

We sat in silence. It felt weird...

"What happened?" He asked.

Should I ask? It was his life... But it just... That night bothered me so much.

"The night of the party... That um... That kiss," I said.

He looked over at me curiously.

"You and Spencer," I said.

"That wasn't me," he said.

"What? Was it a hologram?" I questioned.

He chuckled, "No. I mean, he kissed me. He was drunk... But um. He still seemed a bit too into it... Is that the reason things between you two are so weird?"

It wasn't my place to tell him... I knew it wasn't but...

"He is gay... I see. That would explain a few things," he said, as if I told him everything he needed to know.

I pulled my knees up to my chest, feeling like I did something wrong.

"Is everything cool now? You've been icey," he said.

"Yeah, yeah. Sorry. It all just caught me off guard. I got worried," I said.

"I didn't mean to," he said.

"I know," I said with a smile.
