As soon as things were over I stumbled my way over to the snack bar to find Jeremiah and Steven there. Jeremiah looked over towards me and quickly rushed to my side.

"Jeez Bells did a number on you," he said as he stabilized me.

I laughed, "Yeah, just a bit."

Jere sat me down at the snack bar, "Hey Steven, can you get her some ice?"

Steven nodded and went into the back. He came back with two small bags of ice. He handed them over to Jeremiah and he just lifted my feet up so they were rested on his lap. He took off my heels and placed the cold ice bags on my feet.

"Thanks, Jere," I said with a smile.

"Belly seriously needs to work on her dancing if she wants to get anyone to be her date for that ball," Steven said.

Jere cut up some of his food and held out the fork for me.

"Take it, you've been through enough," he joked.

I took a bite. It was pretty good.

"Dude, I got that for you," Steven said.

"Steven. Can we get two slushies?" Gigi asked.

"Yeah, yeah, coming up ladies," Steven replied, heading back.

"Thank you. Um, that was the most fun waltz rehearsal, like, in the history of waltz rehearsals," Gigi said to Jer.

I had forgotten how much of a thing she had for him...

"Yeah," Dara agreed.

"You came just in time. Your girl Belly's a disaster in heels," Gigi said.

"I think Y/n can attest to that one," Jeremiah said with a smile. "It's alright though. The waltz is just dumb."

Everyone went quiet. Ouch.

"Here you go ladies," Steven said, coming back with their slushies.

"Perfect, thank you," Gigi said and the two walked off.

"What's their deal?" Steven asked.

"Well, uh, Gigi wants a boyfriend, and, uh, Dara bit me once," Jeremiah explained only for Steven and I to laugh. "Yeah, it's a long story."

"You want to get out of here?" Jeremiah asked Steven

"I can't," Steven answered.

"You're no fun," Jere pouted.

"Not-not all of us have a trust fund, Jere, all right? Some of us need to work," Steven defended.

"Bullshit. If Shayla called you right now, your ass would be out the door."

"Yeah." Steven said with a chuckle, "I mean, it's Shayla."

A server appeared, "Steven. Someone important must like you because you've been promoted to the card room."

"The club has a card room?" Steven questioned.

"Come on."

Steven disappeared to the mysterious card room and Jere and I were now alone. Well, sort of, we were out at the pool with tons of people, so relatively alone.

"Your feet feel any better?" He asked, concerned about how bad it might have been.

"Yeah, I think I just needed to sit down for a bit," I replied with a smile.

He nodded. "Well then... Would you like to get out of here?"

Of course. He really didn't want to be here.

I chuckled, "Sure, why not?"

He quickly leaned over and grabbed my shoes for me, relatching them. I took a moment to look him over once again. Everyone kept deciding I had a thing for him, and that I should do something about it... He was attractive, and funny, and overall good company... But... no... Right? We drove off, me having no clue where we were going.

"Where are we even headed?" I asked.

"You'll see when we get there," he smiled.

I sighed and watched as we drove parallel to the shore. The music blared and it just... Even though I wasn't in control, I felt safe and free. We made it to a dock and saw a boat sailing in. Conrad was there driving it back in with Cleveland Castillo. They parked the boat and Conrad made his way to us.

"Guess we got here just on-time," Jere said.

"Gonna take her for another spin?" Conrad asked.

Jere nodded, "Yeah, it's a beautiful day."

"Alright, don't stay out too long or you'll run out of fuel," Conrad warned. "Be careful with her."

Jere nodded and gave me a hand to help me up into the boat. I took it and he sat me down as he handled everything.

"I may not be an award-winning sailor, but my dad did teach me a few things," he explained as he ported us off the dock.

We found a nice spot and just laid below the sun.

"How is the fake boyfriend?" He joked.

I laughed, "He seems fine."

"How far are you two gonna take this anyway? To the ball? A year?" He questioned in between laughs.

"Noooo," I laughed. "Just as long as he and my mom need it."

"Marriage."

We both laughed. Who knew how long it'd last. All I knew was I wasn't gonna let either of them be hurt.

"Don't you ever think that your mom might want you to actually be happy more than anything?" He asked, changing the mood. "More than who it is that makes you happy?"

I laid there in silence. Maybe... But she wanted Spencer. It connected her and Jolene...

"I don't know... I just don't want her hurt. I want her to be as happy as possible. She's been through enough," I explained.

Jere turned over towards me, "So have you."

I stared into his eyes for a moment. In this light, they shone like crazy... I felt like a magnet being pulled to him...

"Y/n," he called.

He reached out his hand towards me, resting it under my jaw. He pulled me towards him gently. He felt the magnetic pull. The gap was sealed between us as our lips connected. I could feel his other hand wrap around my waist, pulling me even closer to him. We kissed like it was all the two of us had wanted... which was probably true... Our lips connected only to separate and then connect once again. I pulled back for air, and Jere leaned his forehead against mine. He smiled from ear to ear.

"What's got you smiling like that?" I asked.

He brushed a few hairs out of my face, "You."

I could feel my stomach leap. Everything about him... It just left me stunned.
