Like a fleeting dream, the peaceful world crumbled away, and I began to feel, once again, senses I didn't know I had lost. My finger twitched as I felt grainy rubble, reminding me that I had indeed returned to my unfortunate reality.

However, before my eyes even opened, I felt a peculiar softness...on my lips?

My lids fluttered open, and I was greeted with the sight of a certain pop group leader, eyes closed, with her mouth pressed against mine. Perhaps sensing my awakening, she too opened her eyes and backed away slowly. As I stared at her, a deep crimson flooded her face.

"You're awake..!" Ahri gasped, before averting her gaze in embarrassment. "He put you under some weird spell, and you weren't waking up. You know how they always say true love's kiss and...!"

In a fluster, she rambled on and on trying to justify our contact. However, all I did was smile.

"It worked, Ahri."

This was the Ahri I loved.

No matter how appealing that illusionary world was, I couldn't ever give up the bonds I made in reality.

Ahri's embarrassed flails came to a stop, and she returned that smile with calmness.

"You're back," she murmured. She shook her head, as if becoming serious again. "Come on, let's get you patched up."

She hooked my arm over her neck, helping my body off the ground. As I struggled to my feet, I was assaulted by a sudden wave of throbs and aches. I bit back a pained groan, re-immersing myself back into the gravity of the current situation.

"Where is he? I need to stop him," I grunted. I still heard sounds of someone fighting, taking the form of gunshots and various voices. I didn't know how long I was out, but each passing second that I wasn't there increased the chances of casualty.

As I staggered forward alongside Ahri's help, a sad smile came to her face.

"You know, that's a bad habit of yours. You're always trying to do everything on your own," she complained wistfully.

"That's because I just want to protec-"

"(Y/N). Thank you, but not everything in life can be done alone. I watched you walk away from me once, and I didn't have the courage to say it to you then. (Y/N), I think I speak for the other girls too, but our happiness is with you. So stop trying to shoulder everything yourself, and let us help you."

I opened my mouth to retort but found myself at a loss for words. A sigh escaped my lips as I couldn't help but chuckle.

How could I have forgotten?

I saw it for myself, how capable everyone was. After all, it was them who rebuilt my broken pieces. I think once I picked myself up off the ground, I had forgotten that and instead was blinded by a single-minded desire to help them just as they had helped me.

Who knew that my obsession with repaying favors would become my biggest weakness?

"You're right, Ahri. Power of friendship right?" I joked.

"You're so corny," she replied, rolling her eyes.

We turned the corner, and finally, the scene of battle unfolded before my very eyes.

I saw Astaroth once again, except this time, he was preoccupied with three different people. It definitely seemed more like he was trying to swat bugs off him, but having disarmed him earlier, it was better chances than anything.

But as my eyes were captured watching the fight, I heard a closer voice call out.

"(Y/N), is that really you?"
