6 Months later
Staying in Kingslanding was fun, I could ride Vyrax anytime I wanted, I had no duties to uphold. I was reading a letter Daemon had sent, A knock on the door was heard, I light the fireplace and once there's a flame I throw the letter into the fire. "Enter" I said, Rhaenyra walked in looking slightly angry, "Will you join me, picking a sworn protector?" she asked standing by the door, I stood up and walked with her, "How are you, Rhaenyra?" I asked as we were walking, "Very well" she said looking straight ahead.
We arrived at the stand and Rhaenyra stepped forward, there was a table with different house sigils, Ser Westerling place a house forward, "Ser Desmond Caron, a fine knight, princess . Step forward Ser Desmond" Ser Westerling said, I heard footsteps and saw Otto walking to Rhaenyra.
"Son of Ser Royce Caron, Ser Desmond has proved strong and steady, in both tourney lists and without. While traveling through the Kingswood on his way to Kingslanding, Ser Desmond recently brought a would-be poacher to justice" Ser Westerling continued saying, Rhaenyra looked down to the man not saying anything, "You might thank I'm for his leal service, princess" Otto told her, "We thank you for your loyal service to the Crown, ser" Rhaenyra said.
I looked up and saw my mother watching us, I smiled at her and she smile smiled back. I watched as Ser Westerling moved another house forward, "Ser Rymun Mallister. Son of Lord Lymond Mallister of Seagard. Winner of the melee at Cider Hall. He was the last mounted of three-and-twenty knights. See Rymun was knight at eight and ten" Ser Westerling said.
I fake coughed, Rhaenyra turned to ser Westerling, "Do any of these knights have combat experience? Beyond capturing poachers" she asked, tourney knights cannot win wars now can they? Ser Westerling and Otto shared a looked and moved a different house forward, "Ser Criston Cole. Sone of the steward of the Lord of Blackheaven" Westerling said, "Be welcome, Ser Criston. You saw combat in the Stowmlands" Rhaenyra asked, "Dornish marches, princess. I fought for a year as a foot soldier against the Dornish incursions" I hear Ser Criston say.
"Ser Arlan Dondarrion knighted me after we razed two fo the watchtowers along the Boneway" Criston continued Rhaenyra looked back to me and smiled, sh turned back to Ser Westerling, "I choose Ser Criston Cole" she said and walked from the stand. "Don't be to hasty, princess. These no doubt Ser Criston is a fine warrior but house such as Crakehall and Mallister are important allies of the Crown" Otto said, I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.
"Those men are tourney nights. The king should be defended by a man who's known real combat, should he not?" I asked both Otto and ser Westerling, none of them said anything, "Of course" Otto said, "Well let us plan Ser Criston's investiture then" Rhaenyra added and we both walked away hand in hand.
A urgent council meeting was being held, Rhaenyra had left and I strolled the castle walls until I came to a open space in the garden, it was so beautiful with all the flowers. I sat down and just enjoyed the silence.
It was not long when Rhaenyra had come and told me about that Daemon had stolen an egg and that she will be sneaking off to go retrieve it herself, she aswell asked me to accompany her with my dragon, Vyrax, to which I agreed to immediately.
I wasn't hard to sneak into the dragon pit the hard part was to not make a sound and even harder when Rhaenyra couldn't keep quiet. When we had gotten our dragons we almost didn't make a sound. To be flying again on Vyrax was like a privilege I needed to gain, the air brushing through my hair, the feeling of freedom, like I had no worries at all, the little tingle I get when I scream "Dracarys!" and Vyrax breathed fires infront of me.
