When we got back to Kings Landing and entered the dragon pit I noticed my mom's dragon, Meleys, was there "Rhaenyra, you never told me my mother was here" I said walking to Meleys and stoking her neck, my mother's dragon has also been fond of me, even since I was a baby I would ride with my mother.
"Oh I was not aware she was here this late" she said and we both walked out of the dragon pit, one of the Kings guards approached us "Princess Rhaenyra, ye King has requested your presence, immediately" he said, I turned to Rhaenyra "Go, I was about to go look for my mother anyway" I said and walked off as Rhaenyra followed the guard.
It didn't take long to find my mother, she always had her spots when it came to Kings Landing, "Mother!" I yelled as I saw her sitting by the bench, she stood up and gave me a warm hug, I loved this hug, I felt protected, I wanted mother to protect me from all the problems in the world. The hug ended shortly after and her warmth was gone like the wind.
"Oh my baby, I missed you, I just needed to see how you were doing, and with your name day near I wanted to give you something now" she said and took in my appearance, my hair was messy from the flying and my dress became torn since we didn't have time to change into our riding clothes.
"I missed you mother, have you brought something with you?" I said looking behind her seeing a box "Ah yes, this is for you" she said handing me the box, it was quite heavy really "What's inside?" I asked taking the box "Open it and find out" she said and when I opened it I saw the most whitest, cutest creature I have ever seen.
I wasn't quite sure what it was actually " What is it?" I asked picking it up and placing it on my lap. "It's a direwolf my dear, I got it from a friend from the north and decided to give it to you for your name day," a direwolf "Oh, well then, thank you mother, I think I should give it a name, Snowflake, perhaps?" I said looking at my mother "Snowflake is perfect" she said and pulled me into a hug
We sat and talked and laughed but I could we something was bothering my mother "Mom, what's wrong?" her face saddened "Your father made a proposal to the King, to marry Leana" she said looking at me with the most saddest look, he told me he wouldn't, I told him I would do what he asked me to, "How could he do that?" "Del, your father hasn't gotten over his obsession that I should've been Queen, it will pass, hopefully" she said the last part mostly to herself but I could still hear it.
My visits to the King has been very frequent now, I would come every night and read to him, sometimes he would talk about this miniature kingdom, he wasn't bad company just too old. When I got to my chamber after dinner I immediately changed into a light pink dress with wide sleeves and a low back, it was getting quite warm at night, I made my way to the Kings chambers and Ryam announced me, he closed the door and Viserys motioned me to stand with him
"Ahh, Dealora, how nice to have you here tonight, Alicent left just a moment ago" he said moving around his miniature kingdom, I followed him around listening to his history "stories" , I enjoyed the stories. He went on telling me about how Aegon the Conqueror married both his sisters to strengthen his claim and that it's important to keep our Velaryon bloodline pure. When the hour was far to late and I was about to leave, Viserys hugged me, it was very unexpected but I hugged him back "Thank you, Dealora, for being here" he said, I smiled and left.
The next morning, when I woke up my sheets were drenched in blood, to indicate that my blood moon has begun and on my name day of all days. When the maids came in and fixed me a bath and added my favorite lavender oils, I sat in the tub rubbing my skin with the soap when a maid came in and brushed out my hair, I just sat there in silence until she was done and got out.
When I looked at the dress the maids had picked out for me, it's was beautiful, it was a bark blue greenish dress, to symbolize my house, "Lord Corlys has requested you join him in the small court today" one of the maidens said and helped me into the dress but all I could think about was why my father would want me to join him in court.
Once I was ready the maidens lefts and I sat there looking at myself until I heard the door open, I didn't have to turn to know it was my father, he sat next to me for a few seconds without saying anything "How could you.... how could you propose a marriage between Laena and the King when I told you I would do as you wished of me?" I said and turned to him tears in my eyes "How could I have known you were actually do as I told you to ?" "Because I promised!" I shouted at him I stood up from my seat "Dealora" he said trying to touch me "No, no don't touch me" I said as tears pooled down my face, my father embraced me into a hug and I couldn't protest so i just cried "I'm sorry, I'm so very sorry" I pulled out of the hug and my father wiped my tears "You are a Velaryon, our house survived the doom you are strong ok?" he said and I shook my head and we felt my chambers together.
When we arrived at the small council meeting, Alicent and Rhaenyra was already there, the King was standing by the window, I didn't think much about it, when the meeting began I stood next to my father as sat. The King stood before all the people Lords that was there "I have decided to take a new wife" he said and my father sat up straight, the King looked at Rhaenyra for reassurance and she shook her head.
"I intend to marry..." he turned and looked at Alicent and then to me "the lady Dealora Velaryon before springs end" he said I turned and looked at Rhaenyra and she looked heart broken, she looked betrayed.
Rhaenyra stormed out of the room and I ran after her "Rhaenyra wait!" I yelled "No!" she yelled back and kept walking "Rhaenyra I didn't know this was going to happen" I said trying to explain but she didn't listen, I caught up to her and took her hand "Rhaenyra? I can change this" I said and she looked at me "What Del, what could you most certainly do to change this?" she said tears in her eyes "I can't change anything but I won't let this change our friendship" I said holding both of her hands "You ruined not just this friendship but also my trust towards you".
"You'll take my mother's place and the kingdom will forget all about her" she said and a tear slid down her face "Oh Rhaenyra, I could never take your mother's place, she was to perfect I could never be her..." I said "I will always and forever be the Lady Dealora Velaryon and your best friend" I said and tried to give her a hug but she pushed me away "Dealora, I don't think we could ever be friends, don't you understand you'll be my step-mother " and with that she stormed off with her guard.
