After 3027 years, the Fourth Age began, the Age of Human Rule - according to the calendar of Shire, it is 1421 years.
People began to refer to the previous Ages as "Old Times", which does not really surprise me given the relatively short duration of their lives. Many names are forgotten and the plot begins to diverge as everyone likes to adjust the story.
I have walked this world since the First Age of the Sun. I remember events that people today know only from legends. My role in the Third Age was written by Bilbo Baggins in his book, he inspired me to write my own memories and tell my story before the events the Hobbit mentions in his book.
I am planning to head west, but before I make that trip I have agreed with my brother to finish this book and to drink our wine supply.
