"Aris." A voice spoke, gaining my attention as I turned their way.
Anthony stood in the doorway with a small smile on his face and a Manila folder in his hands. "Can you type these up, and return them to me?"
"And why can't you do it?" I asked, looking up at him. "You forgot how to say please?"
Anthony chuckled walking further into the room. My eyes never left him as he walked ever so confidently into my office.
Standing directly in front of me he gently placed the folder before me. His dark brown eyes staring into mine as he slowly licked his lips staring at me a few seconds before his lips parted to speak.
"Please."
Pressing my back against my computer chair I leaned back a bit, looking at this man so many memories came to mind.
"What's in it for me if I do this for you?" I asked, my brow raised in question.
"What do you want?"
"I take cash, food, gifts."
"Same ole Aris."
"I always remain the same, unlike some people."
Anthony release a scoff as he shook his head sliding both hands into the pockets of his pants. "I already told you that I was sorry, what more do you want from me Aris?"
"I wanted everything from you Anthony! You're time, your energy, your love and most importantly your faithfulness and loyalty but I guess that was too much to ask from you huh?"
Anthony sighed, sitting down in the chair across from me. "I can apologize a million times, I did you wrong and I'm sorry. Will you ever be able to forgive me so we can move on from this."
"I have."
"It's a start as long as you forgive me."
A soft knock on the door gained my attention as I turned my head looking toward the door.
Renee stood in the doorway with her purse in her hand and a smile on her face. Her eyes looking between Anthony and myself.
"Hey girl you uh, you still want to go out for lunch?"
Looking at Anthony I nodded pulling the drawer grabbing my purse and keys. "Yeah, let's go."
I left, leaving Anthony where he sat as I walked off heading out of the building.
The sun shone brightly in the sky as I slid on my shades. "You riding or driving?" I asked Renee.
"I'll follow you, where you want to eat?"
"Donna's cafe?"
"Bet, her food is fire." Renee smiled, slipping behind the steering wheel of her car.
Doing the same I pressed the button of my press start as my car came to life, pulling out of the parking space I joined the others on the city streets.
My music played gospel something I needed on this morning to get my day started right. I tapped the steering wheel to the beat of the music as I waited in traffic.
