Aris stared at the dark red liquid as it entered into her wine glass. Bringing the brim of the glass to her lips she stared at nothing in particular as she engulfed her third glass of wine.
Tears blurred her vision as she sat at the bar table listening to music.
"Aye baby I'm home!" Marcus greeted as she heard commotion coming from the doorway.
From where she sat she could see Marcus coming out of his jacket, kicking off his shoes tossing his keys onto the table next the door.
"Bae!" He yelled looking for her in the living room.
"Baby? What's wrong?" Marcus questions seeing her with fresh tears sliding down her cheeks her hand wrapped around her lipstick stained glass.
"Marcus." She softly spoke, looking at him she could see the resemble of the little girl in her mind causing more tears to fall.
"Baby, what's wrong?" He asked, bending down in front of her placing his hand over hers.
"I'm here talk to me." He said, looking into her eyes.
Aris started into Marcus dark brown eyes that twinkled with life in them as he stated back at her.
"Do you have a baby?" She blurted out catching his off guard.
"Huh? What? Where did this come from?" He asked, standing to his feet towering over her.
Sliding back the chair next to her he took a seat beside her. "I went out to lunch with a co worker of mine earlier today. We were talking she told me about her daughter, said she heard her father was out of jail
She said your name and I just put two and two together. I showed her a picture of you and she said you were Laila's father. And she also said you knew about her. Do you know about her?"Marcus sighed, running his large hands down his face. "I know of her."
"So why'd you lie to me Marcus? You told me that you don't have any kids."
Marcus sighed standing to his feet. "Renee and I date a while back we grew up together as kids and tried to work something out between us. But it didn't work it was best that we just stayed friends.
I mean yeah we slept together but I wasn't the only Nigga she slept wit so I don't know if she mine or not. That's why I didn't say that I did have a kid because I don't think she mine.""But you slept with her Marcus."
"Yeah, and I wasn't the only one sleepin wit her, that little girl could be anybody's."
"Renee told me she was pregnant but at that point we weren't together and we were barely talking to each other. She had the baby but I haven't talked to her in years she was crazy."
"Crazy huh?" I chuckled drinking the rest of my wine.
"Crazy like how I feel? Dreaming of starting a family with you but you could possibly already have one. I know this was before me but I feel like you coulda at
Least said hey I could possibly have a daughter somewhere.""I'm sorry Aris." Marcus apologized getting on his knees in front of me. "I'm sorry, that seems to be the only thing I know how to say these days."
"You need to get a DNA test to make sure she's yours or not."
"Yeah, definitely I'll do whatever."
"Good, and do it as soon as possible." I said walking up the stairs going into our room.
I laid across the bed tired of crying I stared at nothing in particular as I felt sleep began to take over my body.

-"Aris! Aris!" Anthony called bringing her out of a daze. "Hey, sorry." She apologized blinking back into reality.
"You good?" He asked, taking a seat next to her.
Running her hand down her face she nodded. "Yeah, I will be."
"Wanna talk about it?" He asked, giving her his full attention.
Aris stared at him with a look he knew too well. "I just thought I'd ask." He chuckled raising his hands in defense.
"I appreciate it, but I'll be okay."
"Yeah, I know you will be." He smiled softly before walking out of the room.
"Aris." She heard someone call she rolled her eyes at her name being called again.
Looking over at the doorway there stood Tobias with a folder in his hand. "You need to finish typing this up, and have it returned to my fathers office once it's finished.
"Okay." She nodded as he turned toward the door.
"You alright, you don't look like yourself. I mean you look like yourself but you look off? I mean not off but like - "I'm okay Tobias just a lot on my mind."
"Okay, well don't forget to finish that." He said before walking out of the office.
Sitting back in her seat she grabbed her phone calling Chanel.
"Hey can you meet for lunch?"_________
