Kabanata 16 - Insane

RYKER's POV

"KHIANA?"

I awoke feeling foggy and confused about where I was. When I opened my eyes, I saw that there was nobody in the room. When I noticed that there's no traces of Khiana, I immediately got out of bed. Napasilip ako sa orasan at namilog ang mata ko nang makita ko kung anong oras na.

Fucking 2 p.m.

I didn't expect to oversleep that long. Last night with Khiana was amazing and I couldn't put it into words. I want to have more nights like that with her. I am sure that I'll never forget that night. It was memorable and just fucking unforgettable.

"Khiana? Are you there?"

Naglakad ako papunta sa bathroom para tignan kung nando'n ba siya. Kumunot ang noo ko nang makita na wala kahit anong senyales ni Khiana. I roamed around my suite and saw no traces of her, and for some reason... My suite feels empty.

At first, I believed that Khiana had most likely returned to her own room, so I hastily got dressed and went downstairs to check for her. However, I did not expect what I saw in her room.

"Fuck! I am sorry!" Agad ko na sinarado ang pintuan ng hotel room ni Khiana.

There were two old couples having afternoon sex. Anyway, that's not my business. Agad na hinanap ko ang ilang staff para malaman kung ano na bang nangyari kay Khiana. Did she change rooms? Did she leave? Fuck no! That can't be!

"Sir, nilinis na po namin 'yang Room 10889, kaka-checkout lang po kanina diyan. Tapos 'yong naabutan mo po ay 'yong mga bagong check-in. Mga alas dose po yata sila nagcheck-in," paliwanag sa aking ng housekeeper.

I bit my lower lip to suppress my tears. This can't be, right? She's not going to leave me. I know that for sure. Hindi ako naniwala kaya pumunta talaga ako sa front desk. The housekeeper might be lying! Right, that's just a lie!

When I got to the front desk, I spoke to the receptionist about Khiana's whereabouts and asked if they knew where she was. Immediately, she followed me because if she didn't do that I am going to fire her. Maiksi na ang pasensya ko at nagpa-panic na ako. Pakiramdam ko ay anumang oras ay mag-iexplode na ako.

I was wondering whether she had already left. The receptionist shook her head and then told me that Khiana had left earlier that morning after checking out of the hotel. There was also a cab that took her to the airport.

'Talaga bang iiwan niya ako?'

I was overcome with feelings of disillusionment and bafflement all of a sudden. How could Khiana simply walk out the door without saying any goodbyes? I was so certain that we were holding onto something really special. I thought that she felt the same way for me. But what's this? Why is she hurting me so bad?

"She told me she loves me..." I said to myself, trying to console myself. "She loves me..."

I walked back and forth in front of the front desk. I inquired with the front desk staff if they had any information on Tiffany, a friend of Khiana's. She said that Tiffany stayed in Room 11277 but then she left. I found out from the receptionist that Tiffany and her daughter had also left earlier that morning. They left around 10 in the morning.

'Fucking shit!'

I feel like I'm going nuts! How was it possible for us to suddenly vanish like that? What was being placed was beyond my comprehension. Last night we were okay. Last night was amazing and I know that she feels the same way.

What went wrong?

To get some fresh air and get my thoughts organized, I went back to my suite and stayed on the balcony. I stayed there for hours in an effort to rid myself of the overwhelming sense of isolation and muddled thought that had descended over me.
