"You look exactly like him."
For the millionth time, Sayuri told him while smiling idiotically. She is resting her head on his shoulder. That man comes into Suguru's mind. Would she cling to him in this way if he didn't arrive?
"You even smell like him," Sayuri said as she buried her nose deep inside his neck.
"Is it okay if I simply pretend that he is here?" Her voice carries a heavy melancholy.
Suguru is taken aback by her revelation. She still seems to miss him, despite what he had done. She is not referring to the other man surprises him while also providing relief. He is the only one who can worship her. But instead of being relieved, his fleeting joy morphed into deep sadness. He altered her, forcing her to perform all of this things. All of this is not fair to her. He has no right to be with her. Although he is grateful that she came to support him, he never expected her to end up like him.
"Do- do you still miss him?" He stammered when he asked, not wanting to hear the reply.
"Every minute of every day, but it's wrong," she whispered, gripping his palm even tighter, "I should not."
"Why?"
"Because it is for the best. That man is destined to do greater things. He couldn't put me ahead of his dreams. He is referred to as one of the strongest. A monster like me is not what he deserves. He is a God."
He is even more shocked by her statement. A god? Is that how Sayuri feels about him even if he is the complete opposite? He wants to yell at her to show her that he isn't a god and that he is a far worse monster.
"Do you despise him for not placing you first?"
Her head is once more resting on his shoulder when he asks.
"No. How could I? He saved me from myself, but I was ultimately the one who wrecked myself. He is the light of my life. He keeps me alive, after all. I continue to believe in him. I still believe in us. I've always seen the world up close, so I can't hold him responsible for what he did, and I understand the conditions that led to his actions. He isn't a bad person." She spoke in a voice so low it is unnerving.
He is being enveloped with a menacing silence. She continues to think he isn't a bad person.
"You must walk away from him." Sadly, he told her.
"Huh! Never. I just can't bear to watch him endure this alone. I will constantly be by his side, protecting him. I love him. I regret doing so. I wish we were simply regular individuals going about our daily lives away from this place." She admitted it.
Suguru's eyes expand. He was aware of her feeling and affection for him. He believed he had no heart left, but after hearing her confession, he realises he still has one. That phrase has never been uttered before.
Following her confession, Sayuri falls asleep. He removes her hair from her face to look at her properly. She's flustered after all the drinking. God, she looks so vulnerable, so very human.
"We are here, Getou-sama." After stopping the car, the driver told him.
"Thank you. You may now leave. Good night."
Before seizing Sayuri's waist and placing her on his lap, he informed him.
She is put on her bed after being taken to her room. Tomorrow, she'll experience a dreadful headache. No. Not happening. He goes to the kitchen to make an anti-hangover mix that Satoru taught him years ago. He remembers those times and grins to himself. Such simple times! So many carefree days.
Their blue spring, truly. He longs for those days. But he is unable to return there any longer. He has a responsibility to fulfil. He returns to her room just to see a half-naked Sayuri standing by the window. She truly is drunk. Sighing, Suguru calls,
