Chapter 42: New Beginnings

"You are pregnant, Sayuri."

Satoru's eyes widened in shock at what he was hearing. As he made his way to Yaga Sensei's office, he immediately sensed her cursed energy in Shoko's hospital wing. To avoid being seen, he went behind the hospital wing.

She is standing there with a bandaged arm. Her face is partly hidden by her hair. Since the sun is setting and is kissing her face, her face is gleaming. She is so gorgeous but also terribly sad. The news surprises her.

"Fucking careless bastard." Satoru murmured, thinking about him. How can he be so careless?

Satoru pictured himself holding a baby. He smiled, their child would be hella cute. And then he remembers how he probably won't get a chance to hold the baby at all. Because she will not be here. She will be with him.

"You fucking moron, stop thinking about it," he screamed inside.

The rest of their chat is not heard by him. He observed her leaving the hospital wing and going towards the exit. Just as Satoru walks inside Shoko's office, she turns her attention to the school grounds.

"Why was she here?"

"Oh gosh. Gojo, stop doing that." Shoko's lighter fell off of her hand as she got surprised.

"Have you not sense everything yet? You have good eyes, I believe."

"So is she really pregnant?"

She nods.

"And she'll tell him, right?"

"Yeah. So, she claimed. But I'm not sure how he would feel about the truth. He is not the kind of person who would simply leave her behind in this condition."

"Yeah. Right." He said, mockingly.

"Are you not interested in learning why Sayuri left?"

"No, I don't. I- I don't want to know."

"Gojo,"

"Whatever the reason was it was not okay to leave behind the kids. They don't deserve this." His heart is beating faster.

Shoko sighs.

"Evidently, Sayuri believed she might persuade him to return to the school. She frequently updated Yaga sensei on everything that occurred throughout her missions there."

"I didn't know she watched spy movies as a kid."

"Come on, Gojo."

"Idiot. Idiot. Idiot." Satoru continued to mutter. Why does she have to act foolishly when she abandoned them all? Of course she would act in such a stupid manner. The truth is, she loves him. And it led to people acting foolishly. Satoru could relate to that.

"She assured me that she will return shortly with him. But I don't believe he would return. We know him, don't we? She'll end up being hurt." Shoko informed him.

He is staring at the ground and swearing at her.

"Gojo, look at me."

He raises his head to meet Shoko's gaze.

"You must protect her. Whatever happens, she no longer deserves to get hurt." She spoke with unwavering earnestness in her voice.

Satoru nods and teleports himself near Suguru's organization. He is aware of his address completely. He looks up at the sky as rain began to fall all of a sudden. Around him, people scurried under a shade, while some opened their umbrellas. None of that is necessary for Satoru. Rain cannot pass through his infinity barrier. People are staring at him strangely as he nearly ran the rest of his route.
