Chapter 17
.
I waited for him to answer my question. He placed the papers on his table, took his eyeglasses off, and looked at me.
"What are you referring to?" He asked and clasped his hands together as he looked at me with his cold and mysterious eyes.
"About your help earlier- when I was about to get replaced. Why did you help me? Were those the benefits that you said?" I asked with arched eyebrows.
"No," He answered, which made me puzzled, "You don't know how great of an actress you are." He added.
My cheeks turned red, and I averted my eyes upon hearing what he said. I raised my other hand to cover my burning cheeks.
Me? A great actress? He must be joking around.
I build up my courage before looking at him. I'm sure my cheeks aren't that red anymore.
"So you helped not because of the benefits, but because..."I trailed off
"Because you deserve it. Let me tell you this, Ms. Valmorida. I helped you because you deserve it, and you deserve the role that they gave you." He paused for a minute. "I saw how you acted on the audition. You delivered the lines with emotions exactly what we were looking for." He explained thoughtfully.
I don't know, but the nervousness that I felt earlier vanished. I suddenly feel shy, tinanong ko siya kung bakit niya ako tinulungan when, in fact, I should have thanked him first.
"T-Thank you," I whispered, I'm not sure if he even heard it. I averted my eyes and played with my fingers.
"Did you say something? Sorry, I didn't quite hear you." There's a hint of playfulness in his voice.
My cheeks turned red, and my lips parted. I was hesitating to repeat what I said, but the fact that I questioned him first won.
"Thank you." I expressed in a low voice but was enough for him to hear.
I heard him chuckle. His voice was like music to my ears. It was deep, husky, yet seducing.
"I shall take my leave." I declared I was trying my best not to stutter in front of him.
"Wait a minute." He stopped me from leaving. He looked down, opened his drawer, and took something in it he then stood up, showing how muscular he was. He also took his blazer and hung it on his arms. Naglalad siya palapit sa akin habang inaayos blue blazer na nakalagay sa kanyang braso.
"I'll drive you back to your apartment." He offered. He was already standing beside me when he said it.
I hesitated at first, because what if his hands are full? However, in the end, I accepted his offer.
We walked together outside. When we reached her secretary's table, he stopped for a second to tell her that he'll just step outside. I gave her secretary a smirk when Zak continued walking.
"Don't you have meetings or anything else in your schedule, Zak?" I asked him when we reached the ground floor.
"None, that's why I'm driving you home." He countered. He was now wearing his blazer.
Kaninang nasa elevator kami, inayos niya ang nakatuping sleeve niya bago niya isuot ang blazer.
I didn't distance myself from Zak even though we were on the ground floor. I can feel their eye on us. Staff, models, and actresses were all taking glances at us, I can also hear them whispering, and then again, I just ignored it.
While we were on our way to Grass Residence, where my apartment's building was built, we passed by the Glam Mall.
"Park the car somewhere near the Glam Mall," I told him, and a small smile formed on my lips. He did what I told him, and he parked his car not just somewhere but in the mall's parking lot.
