Chapter 39
.
"Mom..." I absent-mindedly called her, and the people sitting around the circular table turned their gazes on me. Agad na napatayo matandang babae at lalaki, I didn't give them much of attention dahil nasa babaeng kamukha ni Mom and tingin
"T-Tamora—" the woman I called mom cut her own words, but her eyes were on me. However, I heard the name she called me that escaped from her mouth.
Tamora... again?! Bakit palagi na lang siya ang nakikita?
I bit my lips and turned my back to them. Another person who sees me as a person that's already gone. Huh! Funny, pinalipas lang ng dalawang buwan may tatawag na naman sa 'kin ng Tamora.
"Alexia." A voice so soft and based on her tone she was nearing cry.
I stopped in my tracks and slowly looked back.
"Alexia?" I asked, iginaya akong umupo ni Ate Kisha pero umayaw ako. I don't care if people look at us, I don't care if I get tired of standing. As long as I have easy access to running away, I release a deep breath. "You know my mom?" I asked, which made the old woman's face crumble in happiness yet sadness, and her eyes started to form tears. While the rest of them were left with their widened eyes and parted lips.
It's my first time meeting someone besides Auntie Christinia, who knows my mom. Maybe they saw her on the TV or in magazines. My mom was once a model.
"Of course, I know your mom. You have her blond hair." She said that made me tilt my head. Again, Ate Kisha helped me with the food I was holding. She placed it on the table and gestured for me to sit beside her. Kahit na nahihiya at medyo hindi makapaniwala ay 'di na ako pumalag, knowing that someone knows my mom made me wanna talk to her.
"How old are you, hija?" A woman around my mom's age when she passed away asked. She looks fierce based on her features.
"Twenty-two," I answered shortly and took a small bite from the mango Graham on my plate.
I looked up when I saw someone stand up. "I'm sorry, labas lang ako." Her voice was shaking when she said it. It was the woman who looked exactly like my mom.
"Excuse me," He excused himself and agad na hinabol ang babaeng naglakad palayo.
She really looked exactly like my mom, how I remembered her, from her blond hair, black eyes, pointed nose, thin eyebrows, height, everything! Everything looks exactly like my mom. I just started the two people's figures getting further and further away from us.
"Mag-uusap tayo after this, Kisha." A baritone voice full of authority said, I'm guessing that his around my Dad's age.
I turned my gaze to Ate Kisha with arched eyebrows. Nakayuko siya, she know them?
"Y-You... know them?" I asked, stuttering.
When she heard me, she immediately looked up and stared at me. "I'm sorry."
Tahimik kaming kumain, but I lost my appetite. I'm confused, Ate Kisha knows them, and those people know Tamora and my mom. Nang matapos akong kumain akmang tatayo na sana ako ng may magsalita
"Xochi, puwede bang kausapin ka nila." Ate Kisha told me and pointed at those people that spoke to me earlier.
I was thinking of rejecting them, but when my eyes landed on someone. Someone I didn't talk and saw for two months showed up wearing black pants and a red sleeved shirt. I blinked three times and stared at him for a long time until our eyes met. Mabilis pa sa alas kwatro ang pag-iwas ko ng tingin.
I cleared my throat. "Fine."
Ate Kisha, mouthed thank you to me, then looked at them. Agad akong tumayo at naglakad patungo sa garden, hindi ko na sila hinintay. My heart was beating faster than before... it's still him, of course. I placed my hand on my chest to calm myself down. When they catched up, I started walking towards a shed, may mga bench doon. I sat down and crossed my legs.
