Aemond stood beside Vhagar, watching from afar as a row of men stood before the princess and her family. Guards are all ready to protect the young prince.
"You can pick my love." Rhaenyra whispers to her son, brushing her hand through his dark locks.
Baelon's gaze briefly meets Aemonds, tension-fueled eyes. Aemond returned the gaze with a love-filled one. Baelon looks away, confused.
Baelon stops in front of a young boy, 12 and lean. He was young and fresh, eyes still filled with hope, he had never seen war.
"Him." Baelon states
Rhaenyra hums, she wanted someone seasoned, but a boy like him could make a perfect companion, the loyalty of a friend is beautiful. "What is your name." Rhaenyra asks
"Cahir, your Royal Highness." The young boy says, bowing his head respectfully. "Your accent, where is it from?" Rhaenyra asks "it's Dornish." Cahir says
Rhaenyra smiles, "do you have a family?" Rhaenyra asks "Just a sister and a mother, your Royal Highness." Cahir says softly "Please call me Rhaenyra, you are to be my son's protector. Do you understand this?" Rhaenyra asks
Cahir nods, "I do, I understand I am young, but I've trained since I was an infant." Cahir says "I am glad, now do pack your bags, you'll be joining my son and his dragon, Vermithor." Rhaenyra says, motioning to the old dragon. Vermithor blows hot steam from his nostrils.
Baelon looks at his mother confused, "Mother, are you sure? I wouldn't want to scare him." Baelon says
Cahir straightens up. "It would be an honor to join you, my prince." Cahir states, his voice was soft, unlike those of his countrymen.
Aemond glares. Cahir.... he was Baelons before the birth of his first son. Baelon was always a few steps ahead. Pieces seem to be falling into place.
....
Aemond watches with jealousy as Cahir joins Baelon on Vermithor, the young boy clutching tightly to the prince. He was obviously terrified, but as a knight in training, he couldn't show his fear.
"What are you playing at brother?" Aegon asks, arms crossed. Aemond turns. "I don't understand." Aemond says "You were just maimed by that bastard's brother. Is this all a ploy to get revenge?" Aegon asks, genuinely curious.
"No, it's not. This may be hard for your drunk muddled mind, but forgiveness exists and Baelon was as much a victim as I. He's my friend." Aemond defends
Aegon scoffs, "Don't tell me you actually care about him, they aren't true Targaryen's." Aegon says "More a Targaryen than you and I." Aemond states
....
Aemond soared over the clouds, following after Vermithor and his rider. His heart and brain were alight. Everything from then on will be different, Baelon will be his.
....
Alicent picks at her nails, staring nervously as Aemond approaches Baelon. The dark prince stares at him with cautious eyes.
The queen couldn't stand the thought of her son with a bastard, but for him, she would do anything. She'll tolerate this boy.
....
Aemond stares into Baelon's eyes, violet to match his. They will change. They will become the very eyes that haunt his dreams. Perfectly mismatched eyes and gorgeous.
He wished he was allowed to touch, it's all he wanted since the moment he realized he was there and alive. But he wasn't his Baelon, not yet, he couldn't touch him yet.
"I don't understand Aemond, after everything, you want me here." Baelon breaths, slowly coming closer, close enough that Aemond could smell his scent, a scent he was addicted to.
"You are my friend." Aemond answers simply, he couldn't give him the answer he wanted.
"You're all I want."
"Then prove it."
Words whispered of a Baelon and Aemond long gone, replaced by two young and lonely boys.
....
A/N
Older Aemond is currently there and guiding the story, but he will, unfortunately, fade in time since his purpose was met. Young Aemond and Older Aemond are merging, keeping many of the elders attributes.
Dead Charles Chapman as Cahir
Hehehe I know he's young Tommen, but I like his actor, so I'll be using him as a face claim for young Cahir
