Aemond Targaryen lived to become a weak old man, withering in the cells underneath Dragonstone. One mistake caused a lifetime of pain.
Losing Baelon, was the start to the end of the Hightowers. But it wouldn't be the end of them.

Baelon approached the king's chambers with Cahir following close behind, the knight was silent as he watched the young prince whisper something to the guarding knight's ear. The knight stays silent as he steps to the side, allowing Baelon access to the doors.
Baelon turns to Cahir. "Wait here, it'd be just a moment." Baelon states
....
The poppy-scented room assaulted the prince's noise, but he held back his cough at the potent scent, approaching the king's bed.
Baelon's eyes were saddened at the sight of the frail king, his grandfather too young to be so sickly. "Baelon." Viserys croaks, his frail hand falling to his side.
Baelon kneels beside his head. "Grandfather." Baelon whispers, taking Visery's hand. Despite his faults, the king loved his grandchildren. "You are a sight, it's been a while since you've visited me. Have I bored you?" Viserys croaks
Baelon shakes his head. "No, I've just been busy with court and your children. I've been having too much fun." Baelon states, earning a croaky laugh. "Just like my brother, always getting about with mischief, you should've seen him when we were younger. I know Leanor is your father but your eyes, those are Daemon's." Viserys states
Baelon hums in surprise. "I never noticed." Baelon whispers
Viserys grunts, "Daemon is a character, when he was younger you could see the color of his eyes clearly but as he grew they changed, the darkened, hardened I dare say. War changes a man, I hear that you've been summoned, I can deny it if you wish." Viserys offers
Baelon shakes his head. "No, it's an honor to be called upon, not many princes have the honor." Baelon states
Viserys sighs in pain, his hand covering Baelons. "I wish my boys were as honorable." Viserys states with mild disappointment. Baelon's eyebrows lower. "You have it wrong grandfather. Your boys, well the very least your son Aemond is an honorable man, more so than I. He is intelligent, stoic, and brave. He's beaten every knight that dared challenge him. And let us not forget that he is the rider of the oldest dragon in Westeros. I am not even a fraction of my uncle. You should be proud that you raised such a valiant man." Baelon states
Viserys hums, "Truly?" Viserys muses, allowing Baelon's words to sway him. "Then I would like to see him, bring my boy." Viserys orders, only to cough violently. Baelon quickly stands, helping him sit up before grabbing a goblet of water.
As he drinks, Baelon speaks, "I'll bring him."
....
Aemond straightens up when he sees Baelon approach him, confused and slightly hopeful. "Baelon." Aemond whispers as he lowers the book in his grasp. Baelon's eyes watch him carefully. "Your father wishes to speak with you." Baelon states
Aemond is left confused. His father has never summoned him, barely even says his name.
"What did you say to him?" Aemond asks
Baelon was almost offended but he doesn't rise to the bait. "Nothing that might damage you, just speak with him. I rather not speak with you more than I have to." Baelon states, his voice a little snotty as he glares at him.
Aemond swallows thickly, ignoring the sting his words left him.
....
Baelon watches as Aemond enters his father's chambers, his hands tightening into a fist before walking away.
....
Kingslandings city was always filled with dirt and violence, today was no different as he walked through the small and cramped streets, his hood pulled over his head.
Baelon stops before a small building, a wood smiths house.
With a look at his surroundings, he enters, his cloak sweeping past him.
....
An older man peers up from his desk and he straightens up when he realizes it's a customer. "Can I help you, mi'lord?" He asks
Baelon chuckles, removing his hood. "I am not a lord." Baelon states
The older man chuckles as well, "It's what I call all my potential customers. You are all important to me." He states
Baelon hums, "You like to flatter your guest, I respect it. I hear that you are the best woodsmith in the capital. I am looking for a bassinet. My wife is expecting her first child and she deserves a gift for the very difficult journey." Baelon states
The woodsmith grinned, tipping his head in respect. "You must truly love your wife, as you should already know, my services aren't cheap." He answers
Baelon reaches into his satchel, pulls out a coin pouch, and throws it at the older man's desk. "Money isn't a problem, there is half, you will receive the rest when you've done your part, ser?" Baelon states with an enigmatic grin.
"Darren is the name mi'lord. Now do you have an idea of what you would like me to create?" Darren asks as he weighs the purse.
Baelon reaches into his cloak and hands over a scroll. "There are the plans, I do hope you can keep to them?" Baelon asks
Darren grins. "Of course."
....
Baelon walks through the halls of the castle, handing his cloak to his waiting valet when he's suddenly grabbed and pulled into an empty hall.
Baelon quickly grabs his dagger and presses it against the skin of the kidnapper. Aemond stares at him with dark eyes, watching him carefully. Baelon pants heavily, watching him just as carefully. "What is the meaning of this?" Baelon pants, his chest rising and falling.
"You spoke to my father on my behalf. Why? After all that I've done, after I hurt your feelings." Aemond whispers, his brows furrowing. He couldn't understand it. He's done nothing but push Baelon away.
Baelon's violet eyes lower before they snap back up to meet Aemond's. "Just because you said a few hurtful words, it doesn't mean my feelings have changed. I care for you Aemond, I want you happy, even if it isn't with me." Baelon states, ignoring his rapidly beating heart, ignoring his inner screams for him to run and hide.
Aemond scoffs to himself, of course, no matter how much he pushes, they are always meant to be together. Aemond's mind screamed at him but he ignored the warnings and leaned forward, kissing Baelon.
Baelon gasps, his lips parting in his shock, allowing Aemond to manipulate his tongue into the very mouth he dreamed of. They kissed like two lost lovers finally reuniting. Everything inside them singed as their blood rushed with every beat of their synced-up hearts. Aemond cradles Baelon's delicate cheek, pressing himself closer. Their bodies melded into each other perfectly, like missing pieces finally fitting together.
Their minds raced, conflicted but finally narrowing to one thing, mine.
They were each other and no one else.
Aemond wanted this moment to last forever, but he knew it couldn't
"You are perfect." Aemond pants into Baelons mouth, "You are mine and more. I will have you here, on the floor...fuck, I will have you against that ugly iron throne. You are mine." Aemond hisses, his hands lowering and grabbing roughly at Baelon's hips, pressing him impossibly closer.
"I am yours, always." Baelon whispers
