Aemond Targaryen lived to become a weak old man, withering in the cells underneath Dragonstone. One mistake caused a lifetime of pain.
Losing Baelon, was the start to the end of the Hightowers. But it wouldn't be the end of them.

Arianne stood before her pearl-encrusted mirror as the maids and ladies draped her in ceremonial silks. "You are such a beautiful bride."
Arianne lifts her head so her eyes can meet gentle violet ones. Princess Rhaenyra stood at the entrance of her future daughter's room. Arianne is quick to bow, despite the silks draped over her. Rhaenyra smiles, shaking her head softly. "Rise, you are to be my daughter soon. You will greet me as such." Rhaenyra says as she slowly approaches the girl, her eyes taking in her delicate features.
Arianne nods, offering her a smile. "What do you think of my son?" Rhaenyra asks with a small tilt of her head. "He's handsome and generous. Your son is also very bold, which I admire greatly. You raised a good man." Arianne says light heartedly.
Rhaenyra hums, almost sad. "I unfortunately can not take all the credit...letters can only influence so much. I could only pray that the Hightowers raised him fairly." Rhaenyra says and from the stories, he was a fine young man, nothing like the Hightowers, she only hoped the rumors were true.
The thought caused a pang of regret to hit her gentle heart, she regretted saying yes to Alicent. Her wish for something lost in the past had blinded her, causing her to lose her firstborn. Nothing can make up for the lost time. "You are here now, that's all that matters." Arianne says, her jeweled hand reaching out to press on top of Rhaenyra's. Her bright eyes peering up at the older woman, wide and imploring.
Rhaenyra's eyes jump up, meeting Arianne's. While she had told her to be more familiar, it still surprised her. Rhaenyra clears her throat, forcing back her smile. "You are right...I will be going, your maids should finish getting you ready." Rhaenyra says and with a a gentle pat on the hand on top of hers she pulls away.
Arianne smiles, nodding.

Moans echoed in the prince's room as Aemond sucks harshly on Baelon's bare hip, his eye peering up at the withering prince, grinning softly to himself. "Beautiful." Aemond whispers as he pulls away. Baelon sighs to himself, bending forward to capture Aemonds lips into a searing kiss. A kiss that lasted longer than Aemond had intended, his restraint slowly melting away from his body.
"Fuck Baelon....just wait one more day. I promise you, It'll be worth it my love." Aemond states, his lips reluctantly parting from Baelon's. Baelon sighs, loosening his hold. "I don't want to bed anyone else. I just want you. I only ever wanted you." Baelon whispers
Aemonds heart jumps, a smile forcing its way on his face. "I love you." Aemond breathes
Baelon's eyes widen and he sits up. "What." Baelon whispers
Aemond chuckles, leaning his head against Baelon's. With a cheeky grin he repeats himself. "I love you Baelon, you are my world as I hope that I am yours. I've loved you since we were children, even when your brother cut into my flesh. I never faulted you for it, but it made me see you for exactly what you are. And that is mine. So yes I love you, my Strong Dragon." Aemond states
Baelon's lips break into a breathless laugh and he sits up so he's kneeling. Baelon grasps Aemond's face and kisses him, stealing any more pretty words that might escape his mouth. Aemond pulls back with a laugh, "so does that mean you love me as well?" Aemond asks
Baelon grins, "what do you think."
"I think I rather hear you say it." Aemond muses
"Fuck, yes you bloody fool, I love you. I loved you for the moment we became friends, from the moment you rode my dragon and I loved you when you chose me. I love you Aemond, you are my heart and without you I won't live another moment. Now is that enough to get you to kiss me." Baelon breathes, his lips seeking Aemond's out, but the tease pulls away every time with a taunting grin.
Aemond tilts his head, staring at him fondly. "You have a wedding to attend to." Aemond whispers
....
Rhaenyra approached her fully dressed son with tears in her eyes and a hand to her chest. "Look at you...it feels just like yesterday when I had to dress you for your very first ball." Rhaenyra breathes
Baelon smiles, releasing a chuckle. The dark prince approaches his emotional mother, gently grasping her arms. "I missed you too mother." Baelon states
It was the truth, despite the unexpected kindness the Queen had displayed, nothing compared to his mother. "Why don't you and your bride stay in Dragonstone, just for a bit. I would love to get reacquainted before you left for the steps." Rhaenyra states
Baelon smiles, but before he can answer, a deep chuckle resonated from behind his mother. "I believe he would much rather spend the time ravishing his new bride." Daemon states, his hand coming to rest on the base of Rhaenyra's back.
Rhaenyra flushes and she playfully smacks Daemon on the chest. "That is my son you are talking about." Rhaenyra exclaims, but her grin gave her away.
Baelon chuckles. "Daemon is right mother. It would be dishonorable of me if I restricted Arianne's tour. She has mentioned wanting to visit the North and a few of the free cities." Baelon states
Daemon lifts a brow. "Really, quite an interesting tour. But I do hear that the free cities can be quite erotic for young couples. I commend this future wife of yours." Daemon teases
Rhaenyra rolls her eyes with a chuckle. "You are insufferable." Rhaenyra commends.
"Arianne wants to travel as much as she can before she falls pregnant. I am honoring her wishes." Baelon states
Daemon smirks, lifting a brow as if he didn't believe him.
Suddenly there was a knock on the bedroom doors. Cahir's head pops through and he clears his throat. The three turn and watch him expectantly. "The ceremony is about to start, they are just waiting on the groom." Cahir states, his eyes struggling on staying on their faces. He wanted to stray his gaze towards Baelon but it wasn't his place anymore.
Rhaenyra nods. "Thank Ser Blackmont, we will be there." Rhaenyra says
Cahir nods and removes himself, leaving the three alone.
"Well, it seems it's your turn to finally shackle yourself."
All that is heard is a wack and a shout of pain.
