Everything in italics is old Valyrian.
Suddenly Caraxes shifted. His wing moving to cover the naked female by his side. The huge beast glaring at his rider; refusing to listen to Daemon as he ordered him to stand down. This was the first time the prince had ever seen his dragon react in such a way with him. Others he scared, he intimidated, yes; but he had never done it to Daemon. The younger Targaryen actually finding himself stepping back, as Caraxes moved his head closer to him. A deep growl coming from deep inside the beast.
"He won't listen to you..............." A voice suddenly called out. The rogue prince furrowing his brows, as he heard the old language. Sure, it must have been the female that had been by the dragon's side; but how she knew old Valyrian, he couldn't think. Nor, and perhaps more importantly, could he think of where a naked woman had come from when the spit of land, was supposed to be uninhabited.
"He won't listen to you, not now; not while I am with him." The voice continued. Daemon watching, as Caraxes reluctantly moved his wing, so that the woman could come forward.
"And why not...............?" The prince demanded to know, as she continued to stand next to the great red beast. Her hand softly stroking his scales.
"Because, I told him what you do to dragons. What all of you so called, Dragonlords, do to dragons; have always done to dragons. How you take free creatures and use them for your own ends. How you came to this island to capture another one, and take it back to Kings Landing with you. He and I have a connection; a connection that you could never share with him. And he is with me now..............." The female explained, it her turn to smile, as she looked at the confused pale haired man.
"What are you.............?"
"You have already asked me that once, Dragonlord. And I will have Caraxes give you the same answer that I did.............." The woman replied, before she lay the side of her head against the dragon. The sky filling with flames, as if she had given the beast some unspoken command to set the world on fire. Daemon and his men able to do nothing but move back.
The prince didn't know what to think, as Caraxes continued to light up the sky. What was the woman talking about? How did she know of the Dragonlords; that he had come to this island to find another dragon. And what did she mean when she said that she and his dragon shared a connection, that he was with her now. And then it hit him; but the conclusion that he had come to, was so farfetched, so ridiculous, so amazing that it could not be true. Yet it seemed like the only explanation.
The last thing that he had asked 'what are you?', had been the dragon that he had lost. And when he had asked the question, the beautiful, black beast had done just as Caraxes was now; so, to Daemon, that could only mean one thing, the naked woman and the dragon he had been hunting all day, were one and the same; but how...........?
It was true to say that he had heard the tales of magic and Old Valyria; of blood and sacrifices. Of unnatural creatures created by the bloodmages in the pits of Gogossos, yet all those that were said to have been born of these twisted experiments, were abominations; none supposed to have lived to see their coming of age. So, if this woman was a child born of those dark practices; it was obvious that she was a success. A very powerful success: and Daemon wanted her all the more.
Slowly, he moved forward, as Caraxes finally seemed to settle. His dragon watching his every move, as he got closer. The beast dropping his tail, with a mighty thud, between his rider and the woman, as Daemon took a step too close for the dragons liking.
"You.........you are the dragon............"
"Of course. Why do you seem so surprised? Did you believe that you knew everything of this world? Did you think that you knew all the deep, dark and awful truths? I am the dragon, can be the dragon, and I want you to leave my island; leave here and forget all about me." She warned, her eyes glowing with the same fire that had just filled the air.
Leave? Leaving was not an option, not without her anyway. Normally he would rely on his charm and his silver tongue to win her over; he would flash his smile and have her melt. But this woman........this woman, was obviously not like any other woman he had ever met..........in more ways than one. And given the fact that Caraxes was glaring at him, protecting her as if she were his rider; the prince knew that he now had to try and get two dragons back to Kings Landing. Daemon hating to think what would be said, if he went back to the capital without any dragon.
"I am afraid that I cannot do that............."
"Cannot, or will not? You cannot come here and think that you can control me; can capture me and tame me. No mortal has ever been able to do that. If you refuse to leave, Caraxes and I will turn this island into nothing more than molten rock beneath your feet............."
"Then where will you go? You say that this is your island.............."
"There are always more islands. Islands that mortals will not find. And with Caraxes by my side we could go anywhere..............."
"But if you come to Kings Landing, you will find more dragons. You need never be alone again. You can be with them, be with Caraxes. All you have to do is come with me............"
"Come with you........so that you can chain me up and keep me as your prize, I think not, Dragonlord. I will give you until the morning to decide; you either choose to go, and never come back, or call the bottom of the Narrow Sea, home." The female warned, before making her way back under the protective wing or the great red dragon; leaving Daemon with his thoughts, and a decision to make.
